Sept. 1,2,3, 2000 Judge: Julie Simpson Submitted by Bill Gary This trial started like a firecracker ? The temperature was in the 90?s and that was nearly as hot as the Novice dog?s tempers. Julie Simpson, the winner of the 1996 International Supreme with her Moss dog, stood the test of time and showed remarkable coolness throughout a long weekend that culminated with lightning strikes on Sunday morning followed by tiebreaker runs for both Open competitions. Chuck O?Reilly with Jen and Maralyn Fowler with Craig battled with hot sheep and tired dogs with Maralyn and Craig pulling a win out for the first competition. Chuck was again tied, with his Ben dog, this time with Jack Knox and Jeff for the second competition. Following a couple of close runs, Jack and Jeff came through with the win. Julie proved to be winner in her own right. After teaching a five day clinic at Bill Gary and Mary Sullivan?s farm in River Falls, Wisconsin, Julie climbed onto the judge?s stand and was eventually heralded as ?an extremely fair judge, one of the best at telling when it was the dog or the sheep? (a quote from one of the Open Handlers). This year was another successful trial for the WWSDA, and we look forward to seeing you all next year.
