I used it to calm down nervous shelter dogs and it worked wonders. It might calm your dog down. It would certainly be worth a try. Most dogs jump up out of excitement, because they haven't been taught that the way they get what they want, (attention from a human) is to sit politely. Furious tail-wagging is allowed.
