RamblinAMX390
How common are 60+ pound border collies? We had a few border collies on the dairy farm when I was a kid and they were never near that large. I got a male 4 years ago as a puppy and he grew in to this beautiful 63 pound sweet boy. Very lean muscular and athletic build. I couldn't expect a better dog!
gcv-border
That is a really hard question to answer because I don't think anyone tracks it. My guess is that there may be regional concentrations of larger boder collies - due to either genetics or the demands of work.
GentleLake
Welcome to the Boards. Handsome dog. I love me a prick eared merle. I think there've always bee a certain number of larger than average ones around, just as there've always been some teeny ones around. Your boy's big, but the largest one I personally knew was one I'd bred. He was 70 lbs. at a skinny, lanky 1 year of age. I'm sure he filled out a bit by the time he hit maturity.
