brihop
Hi All, I have started to train my 10 week old puppy basic obedience. He will come to me sit and lie down but at times just looks with that can't be bothered look on his face. Any advice on keeping his attention? Also should I start training walking on the lead? Don't want to overload him. Thanks in advance for any help. Brian
GentleLake
Be patient and put things in perspective. How attentive would you expect a 2-3 year old human child to be? Keep it short and light and make it fun. That's all you need for now. Let him be a puppy before you expect him to earn a canine PhD.
gcv-border
What a cutie. Yep, short and sweet and very fun training at this age. Specifically, I might ask for 2-3 sits, reward each one and then release to play. It is much, much better to train in very short periods several times per day, than to try to train for one 10 minute session (or longer) per day. If you have to, set a timer for 30 seconds because the time passes so fast that it is easy to lose track.
