Jinger

Recommended Posts

I was on the list for a male pup, and ended up with a female out of a different litter. :)

This is Jinger. She is teeny-tiny little thing-only 5 pounds! But she is very aggressive(not necessarily in a bad way) and thinks she's big. :)

Yeah, the whole litter was the same size-she's not the runt. It was a litter of seven-on the large side for a BC, or so I've heard, so maybe that has something to do with it?? A guess from looking at them, the dam is probably 35 pounds or so, and the sire 50+ so I think she'll do some growing. :)

What a cutie!

I don't think that is really all that large litter of a litter for a BC - my pups both came from litters of eight. But working genetics came be a bit weird. I've heard speculation that size skips a generation, i.e. pups may take after the grandparents more than parents with size.

I think my Tommy was that little and she ended up at 32 lbs.

That's encouraging to hear! I was starting to think she may only be useful for herding rabbits, LOL!

My Ziva was around five or six pounds at nine weeks of age. Within a week of her arrival she was bossing my older Border around. She is now 29 pounds and would take on buffalo!!!!

Jinger is now 11 weeks old and a whopping 9 pounds. We've been battling roundworms and I gave her a new dewormer yesterday, so we'll see how that works. She had some food aggression at first, but we've worked through that and haven't had an incident in 2 weeks, even with yummy cooked chicken tonight.

I love Susan Garrett's IYC, and we've had very good results with it. I also think it helped some with her food aggression.

Her weekly picture next to Kate so we can track her growth. :)

I'm really having fun with this puppy-more than any I've had so far.
