GentleLake
Somehow I missed your last post. I'm so, so sorry to hear this. It really stinks. I don't know what the specialists will be able to do for him, but I hope you remember to treasure the time you have together. You'll be in my thoughts, and I'll be sending Reiki for both of you. roxanne
Maralynn
And G/I lymphoma is the hardest type to treat. sigh. His attitude is still really good so I'll be trying a combo of prednisone and oral chemo as it can often offer some good short term relief. PSmitty
I'm so, so sorry. Hugs to you and Kipp. Prednisone did help my lymphoma kitty for a few months, it gave us some quality time together.

Laurae
I am really sorry, Mara. Hugs to you and Kipp. When Sophie had the mast cell tumor four years ago, prednisone really shrunk the tumor and and chemo saved her life. I know it's not the same kind of cancer, but I hope they can give him a bit more quality time with you.
ShoresDog
I'm so sorry to hear your news, Maralynn. Kipp's in the best possible hands with you.
Maralynn
I started him on pred and the chemo drug today. It's a bit unnerving to be giving two drugs immune suppressing drugs one of which needs to be handled with gloves. I was like "what am I putting into my dog?!?" But when you come to the last resort to keep your dog comfortable for as long as possible... The prednisone has perked his appetite back up and he's showing sustained interest in food again. And he's still quite happy and interested in life. He thinks he struck the jackpot since he's now in the house all time instead of being kennelled outside for a few hours during the day. Jo&Tex
I am so sorry to hear that is indeed lymphoma. My Nell had lymphoma at age 11. She perked up on the Prednisone and she enjoyed a brilliant few months of fall weather. I made the decision to let her go when she could no longer eat, due to the tumours constricting her throat. The day before she left us, she was rolling in the snow with my other dogs and had a last visit to the sheep. She was still happy and I was grateful for the time I was given to spoil her silly. Tommy Coyote
Pred really helped another dog I took care of that had some kind of tumor cancer. It perked her up and she was eating again. I think the vet had thought she might live 30 days and she actually was around and doing pretty well for about 6 months.
Shetlander
How is Kipp doing today, Mara?
Maralynn
He's eating a bit again (like he may actually be consuming the amount of calories he needs), and he was full of prednisone induced bravdo last night - took him to the barn when I did chores then had to keep nagging him to leave. the. sheep. alone!! But he was pretty tired today. Really hoping it's a combo of the crummy weather and the chemo drug he had yesterday.
urge to herd
It would take Buzz a day or two to get back to himself after his chemo. Hope he perks up soon. Ruth and Agent Gibbs
Shetlander
It was awful weather yesterday. I wanted to take a long nap at work, myself. Hope Kipp has a better day and we get some sun. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny. Give Kipp a hug from me.
Maralynn
Just wanted to update - the meds have kicked in and Kipp is feeling better. He's a bit anemic from the chemo drug but other than that he's happy with decent energy, wants to do stuff and is eating better. And his diarrhea has cleared up. The prednisone makes him act like the teenage version of himself. I know he's still on borrowed time, but I'm smiling right now.
G. Festerling
Glad to hear of the relief. Praying for you guys.
GentleLake
So great to hear he's feeling better. As far as I'm concerned, it's all about quality of life rather than duration, so I'm happy to hear that you're getting a chance to have some good, quality time with him again. Each day like this is a gift, so keep smiling. Hugs. roxanne
