Bill Baker
Wolfie, our 6 month-old, tri-color parents, are both working BC's. Lucky, her Mom, and Russell, her Dad, work both cattle and sheep. Wolfie has a great herding instinct, which we have directed into Frisbee and Tennis Ball fetching. After all, herding is no more than fetching. She is developing into quite a sight at the park. Other dog owners actually stand and applaud her after several frisbee catches. She loves to obey hand signals. Try it with your Border Collie. Hold the ball or frisbee up in your hand and with your other hand motion to come, sit, stay. go right go left, and then throw it. Wolfie, at 6 months is the talk of the park. BC's just want a job to do, and no other dog responds so quickly.
jfaircloth
Sounds like Wolfie's got a great dad! I also agree that BCs, given the proper outlet for their energy and herding drive, make fantastic pets. After all, not every BC can live on a sheep farm. Thanks for your post, and enjoy your dog!
