Fergie's gone

My deepest sympathies to you and your family - it is so hard to lose our old special ones. It is a blessing for her (and you) that Fergie left you by going in her sleep in a comfortable familiar place. May your memories of her all be happy ones.

Thank you all for your love for Ferg.

If anyone is in touch with Becca, could you tell her? I know that Fergie is with Ben, her friend from our picnics. And Ben is teaching her that, while deer (the skinny brown things) are to be ignored, this is what we do with sheep (the fuzzy white things).

I lost a treasured friend today,

The little dog who used to lay

Her gentle head upon my knee

And share her silent thoughts with me...

She'll come no longer to my call,

Retrieve no more her favorite ball;

A voice far greater than my own

Has called her to His golden throne.

Although my eyes are filled with tears,

I thank Him for the happy years

He let her spend down here with me

And for her love and loyalty.

When it is time for me to go

And join her there, this much I know...

I shall not fear the transient dark

For she will greet me with her bark.

Vaya con Dios, Fergie.

Thank you all. We've had her cremated. We'll put some ashes here, in her

favorite sunny spot. But we'll take most up to Kerr Lake. She loved picnicking

at the visitor center and swimming in the lake.

We miss her a lot. It's tough looking at her chair, in the corner of the den, and seeing it empty. But she had a good 15+ years and went quietly in her sleep in the kitchen, just having been what we always called schnozzled.

I'm so sorry but, I'm glad your were able to give her a good quality of life and a good passing. She knew she was very loved.
