RacingQH
I know that there can be a HUGE variation in size with puppies AND adults. I'm just curious as to the size that other folks puppies are/were at the 3 months? Dash is 14 weeks old today and is just a hair under 16 inches tall. A week ago (at 13 weeks obviously ) he weighed 17.5 lbs.
Kat's Dogs
At about 3 months - I think that Dazzy was something like 14 inches at the shoulder and only around 10-12 pounds. She is my first BC so I don't know for sure - but a lot of people said that she WAS a smaller pup and was also just growing slowly.
RacingQH
Thanks for the reply. Dash weighed 13.5 lbs 4 weeks ago. So he gained 4 lbs in 3 weeks. (Since his last "weigh in" was last week.) He was also on the "chunky" side when I got him. But is now lean and "racey looking".
RaisingRiver
I'll have to see what River weighs when she goes in on Friday (14wks). At 12 wks she was only 8.9lbs. She's nice and 'agility' lean. She's getting leggy'ier, but I just measured her and she's 12" at 13wks. I'll check again on Friday. Of course, I have no proof as to her exact age. I was told she was 8 wks when I got her, but she's from a backyard litter who didn't provide much info other then, 'this is mom, that is dad'. Her parents aren't small, they looked avg BC height to me. All the litter pups were the same size except for 1 male that was much larger then the rest. RaisingRiver
Ended up going to the vet today (Mon) for Advantage, so weighed River. At just past 13wks she's 11.3lbs & 12".
Suprman
Maisie is just over 8 weeks old and she weighs almost 12 lbs. She a biggy =o)
RaisingRiver
Measured today, one week later (14wks) and River is 14".... wow, 2 inches in 1 week. She was 12lbs on Thursday (22nd).
Lunar
Wow, now that's some growing!! Poor little Zoe's only 16" and 25lbs at 6 months. Not going to get as big as a BC, it appears!
ChrisInTheVale
Hi there, Ziggy is just over 6 months - and another biggy -about 20" tall and 41 lbs. P.S. not sure how to measure the height - especially with Zigs not stading still for very long - so I assumed its done from the shoulder to the ground - is this correct?
RacingQH
Yes. From the highest point of the shoulder blades to the ground.
mudthirsty
Mine is 15 weeks old today, and she's real close to being 14" tall (from the ground to her shoulder blades).
Brock's Girl
Brock is 8 and a half weeks, and he weighs 7.5lbs... Is that tiny or are all your babies BIG?!
RaisingRiver
River was only 5+ lbs at her 8 wk appointment. I must say, it's hard to measure height when your puppy is all wiggly
border_collie_crazy
just check the wall with Happys growth on it lol Happy was 14 inches tall at 13 weeks and at 14 weeks had grown just about 2 inches lol

Hmmm. Liz
Kat's Dogs
Dazzy -at only 8 weeks - was more like 4.5 to 5 pounds (she was the runt). And by 6 months she was around 20 pounds and 17" tall. Now she is 10 months, close to 32 pounds and 19" tall. (I wish that she was just an INCH shorter! Think of what she could do in the agility ring! )
Lunar
Kat - Sounds like Dazzy is Zoe's size! But she's an inch shorter, at least at 6 months... I was planning to do agility, I never thought about the high limits. Maybe she won't have to compete against all you border collies, give her an actual chance. bobh
Kat's dogs I feel that the best agility dogs are 19-22" tall. 18 inch dogs jump 16 in AKC but still must junp 22 in USDAA. Now you and Dazzy will be playing with the big dogs, Go get them. bobh
Kat's Dogs
True, but for those of us thinking AKC and NADAC..... Optimum BC hight is 18" - then you get to compete with the shelties and the little dogs!! ahh well, by the time she is old enough to compete, she should be good enough (but will I??? )
mudthirsty
Ive decided to measure my bc on the inside of the closet door. That way I can see how much bigger she is getting over the next couple of months.
Lunar
There's only one agility training/competing place near here (and it's like over 30 minutes away, yuck), but I don't know what they're through. I should go check. Zoe shouldn't be more than 18" when she's fully grown... well, considering she looks half sheltie, that's about right. Good enough?? Hahaha, I'm just hoping we both figure out enough to stay in the ring. She'll be my first agility dog!
Pippin's person
Hamish is 26.5 lbs and 17" at 18 weeks. We think he's going to be big--and know I really think so reading about all these petite pups
RacingQH
Just an update. Today Dash weighed 25.5lbs. He will be 17 weeks on Saturday.
mudthirsty
Another update.. Brodie weighed in at 20.1lbs. She will be 17 weeks tomorrow. She's also about 15.5" to the top of her shoulders.
Lunar
Last week at 31 weeks Zoe weighed in at 24.4lbs. Funny thing is, when we went into the vet they said, "She looks part border collie."
