a suggestion. if you like bbq sandwiches.

can of corned beef

bottle of your fave bbq sauce

large buns like hoagies subways heroes or whatever is your fave.

in a skillet combine the corn beef and bbq sauce.

cook until thick enough to make a not too drippy sandwich. can be served with pork and beans or any side dish of your choice. can dress it with usual sandwich makings.

Camping words of wisdom from the Craziest of the Carsons:

- Water in a plastic bucket over the fire will NOT heat up before the plastic melts.

- Walnut trees do not make good shelter for your tent. The noise of the falling nuts is akin to shotgun blasts when you're trying to sleep.

- After the age of 30 air mattresses are mandatory. Trust me.

- Manual mattress pumps make for interesting entertainment when blowing up the mattress is seen from OUTSIDE the tent.

- Air mattresses that are all vinyl make very funny noises when they are put into those stand thingies with the zippy cover.

Water fun nuggets of wisdom:

- Your behind will become a rock magnet when tubing if the water is even 1" down.

- If you fall out of the canoe, hold on to your oar.

- Always take toilet paper.

- Put it in a Ziploc baggie.

- If you fall out of the canoe, it is best to scream OHNO really loudly and send the SO to get the TP.

- Take one pair of shoes extra for every time you plan to canoe.

- If you manage to make it down a class 3 or class 4 rapid in a canoe, do NOT lift your oars in victory until you're WELL past the rapids. To ignore this can result in a nostril washing that you couldn't imagine in even your most creative moments.

This message brought to you by a chocolate chip cookie, and a Toblerone.

Ahhh... I backpack a lot so whatever I am taking it is on my pack and adds weight!

Favorites:

Tyson 98 Percent Fat Free Premium Chunk Chicken Breast In Water is vacuum sealed chicken that is precooked and really great!

I take beans and rice and add chicken with a bit of seasoning. Works great for two people.

I also love the noodles and sauce with chicken or tuna.

Dehydrated fruit from the asian store (snack)

Dehydrated resberries and oatmeal (breakfast)

Dehydrated mushrooms also are GREAT! They really spice up any dish.

When I go canoeing... I can take a big cooler and tend to really do it right.

Eggs, bacon, sasauge, hash brown potatoes, corned beef hash

lunches... turkey and provolone

Dinners (freeze meat and put in cooler):

Chicken the first night...

Steaks the second...

fire pies as mentioned above are always good...

I love baked potatoes in the fire.

This seasoning goes a long way with anything meat eggs, potatoes:

Ahhh... I can wait to get out again now!!! Bummer I'll have to wait a few weeks... HAVE FUN!!!

And always remember to pack about 1/3 of the cooler with ice... and drain it. It will make the cold and the ice last longer!
