But you might not want to tell him that an AGILITY person is sending good wishes - he might have another heart attack!! But I have learned so much from him, and even lurk on his own forum now and then. Guest carol campion Posted March 29, 2008 Report Share Posted March 29, 2008 The most recent information I have is that Bill was taken to the hospital early this am buy his wife after complaining of chest discomfort and pain. They assessed it was a heart attack. He has been taken to a different hospital for further tests. That's the last I heard. My understanding is his sheep have been looked after and his dogs have been farmed out. Sally Lacy is closest to the situation. Either Sally or I will post info to this forum when available. There will definitely be some sort of fundraising as Bill did not have health insurance. I know he will appreciate all the concern. Keswick Farm Posted March 29, 2008 Report Share Posted March 29, 2008 Lynn telephone this morning from the Brattleboro Hospital. They were arranging to transport Bill to the Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Lebanon, NH, where they put in a stent and he is ordered to stay still without bending his legs. I know if I were told not to bend my legs, they would immediately want to bend and if I were told I could not straighten them, they would cry out against the orders. It will give him something to do. He stays in the ICU for three days and I'll let you know what happens next. With no health insurance, they will be needing our help. Think of fund raisers. We'll be having something here at Keswick Farm when my sheep can do it (haven't even begun to lamb yet). Possibly a sheep management clinic combined with dog training/handling clinic. One of Bill's best friends was the NH extension sheep specialist and used to give seminars. I have two of Bill's dogs and his parents have the others. Lynn is in Lebanon with Bill. According to what Sally posted on Bill Gary's forum, Bill F. is only 45. He is expected to make a full recovery. Now we just have to come up with some fundraising ideas. J. Keswick Farm Posted March 29, 2008 Report Share Posted March 29, 2008 Too soon to make predictions about "full recovery" but Bill's age and general vigor are in his favor. They probably won't know about the damage done to his heart muscle until they can do further tests and that won't be for a while. We're under a fresh blanket of snow and it is hard to get around. His Westmoreland friends will care for his sheep. Lambing isn't due until A[ril 29th and he pasture lambs. I think there are about 100 sheep. I may be making some corn runs for him. I'm personally a little squeamish about going on SD-L without Lynn's approval. He's much more connected to people on this list and the Gary forum folks. When anyone actually has a fund raiser organized, we'll take it to SD-L to get participants and perhaps virtual participants. Haven't talked to his mom yet today. Will do so later. Might bring up his spirits to be able to at least see the out pouring of concern and love from friends around the world. I would imagine its pretty tedious and boring for him as he doesnt like to watch tv. Might help him to keep his legs straight too, as he can lay it on his lap?? Course, Ive heard that being on the computer brings folks heart rates up too, so maybe not such a good idea. I know Id be lost with out mine. Thanks Sally for the updates, keep us posted, and tell Bill we're all thinking of him and praying for him. Julie, the sheep forum is back up, if ya wanted to contribute there too. For now the sheep and dogs are being looked after by friends, family, and neighbors. I've been moved out of critical care and into intermediate care, and it looks like I'll be able to go home sometime Monday. I hate being in this damn place, but they tell me it's better than the alternative. Medically, I will be fine. The stent is already doing its job. There was very little damage to the heart muscle.
