I received "Dogs of the Shepherds: a Review of Pastoral Breeds" by David Hancock today. Published by Crowood, 240 pages.
I can't speak for the text of this book, but the old photos, engravings and paintings make it worth the purchase price ($26.50 from Amazon.com) to me. However, for the student of the working dog there seems to be too much use of the term "correct type" for my liking. But the author does deplore many of the trends of modern breeding, such as excessive coat, poor running-gear and loss of ability.
