  1. Hi, I have a 2 year old Border Collie called Luna, and she’s having some problems so I was wondering if anyone could help? Around 4 days ago she started drooling a lot, having a really bad breath (way worse than usual), a fever and less energetic, we called our vet and they recommended buying a product to protect her stomach as she had probably just eaten something (she’s an extremely picky eater and doesn’t like dog food) after that she was a bit better then a day later we took her for a check up and the vet said they wanted to run some test but was ok to go home, later that night she got significantly worse, we rushed her back to the vet and she had a fever and they decided to keep her for 2 nights. Yesterday we got her back and she wasn’t the same dog, she was looked and acted as if she was sedated, when we got home she drank water for at least 10 mins. Initially we thought that she was just drained from her stay but as the night progressed she got weaker and weaker, we took her to pee and she was walking side to side, we ended up carrying her back inside as she didn’t want to walk anymore. After that we took her back to the vet but by then she was completely unresponsive. At the vet they spent 2 hours stabilizing her and they informed us that she had a glucose level of 30 (extremely low) this was around 2 am, then again at 5 am she had the same episode at the vet and now apparently she can’t produce or regulate her glucose levels alone.... she had an ultrasound and that came out clear (she has something in her kidneys) her blood test came out fine, no diabetes, urine test came clear. they noticed ulcers in her mouth, she is a bit underweight as she’s a picky eater and we believe she was the smallest from the litter, other than that she is an extremely active dog and relatively healthy. Does anyone have an idea of what she could have or what tests we could run ? thank you.
  2. Hi, I have tried researching to the best of my degree but recently I attended an appointment at my local vets for Max's Booster. The vet I saw said they had updated their vaccinations and that Max would have to come back in four weeks. Max has always been given lepto 2 vaccine but now they have informed me starting from next year they will only be stocking the lepto 4 vaccine. Max is due to go back in 10 days for the remainder of the injection. I am getting a puppy and bringing it home in may. The owner of the mother said not to give the lepto 4 vaccine as the has been a number of fatalities, but normally Andale vets have always been great. Did not help at the top of this page that showed all the dogs who have had a fatal reaction had a picture of a collie who had passed soon after receiving the lepto 4 vaccine. I just need help and advise. Thanks in advance
  3. Hello, My one year old BC has an old cut on his rear foot. The vet said it was too late to fix it a month or so ago. It seems deep and although not infected, I wonder if it will accumulate stuff later and give him problems. Can they do anything with this? THANKS
  4. Hi all, I'm a new member and a bit desperate for help. My BC is almost 5 years old. End of last summer she developed eye and nose irritation - very itchy and redness. Skin around the eyes and nose became scaly and very dry. I thought it was allergies as she spent alot of time outside. The vet said she thinks it's lupus(canine discoid lupus erythematosus). She gave her a slew of meds but it didn't help. I gave her some homeopathic supplements with flaxseed oil. It helped a little. I got her some doggles and canine sunscreen as the vet said she's sensitive to UV rays and cannot go out in the sun! She's better but still has some issues. Summer is here and I'm worried the lupus will flair up again. She was never tested for lupus - could this be something else?? Any suggestions would be so greatly appreciated. I've been reading up on lupus but I haven't found much that seems to help with alleviating the symptoms. I would hate to keep her locked up inside all summer. Thank you!
