  1. Hi I need some advice regarding my 6.5 month old collie please. He's been doing so well and I can walk with him off lead almost anywhere, he is very responsive so I can't fault him there. The issue I have is when we meet with my friends dogs (two collies too) and my dog is OBSESSED with the younger of them (they are all males btw), if we are throwing a ball for them he will only chase and copy the other dog, circling/ herding him and nothing can break his focus. I've tried all sorts...running around manic to get his attention, having his favourite toys, favourite treats, loud noises etc. NOTHING will break his focus and he just will state at this dog and constantly run just behind him (or weave Infront). Any advice how to prevent this, and what he's doing? I'm assuming herding but it's only with this dog, and the other dog ignores him but starts growling after a while. It's annoying for me as I can only get him to follow me to leave with his lead on and he pulls against me to break off, then when the other dog is out of sight...he goes back to bring good as gold! Thanks
  2. Due to family separation and lack of space in new home, there is a fantastic collie/Kelpie dog 1 yr in need of an outdoor life. We love him and would have him if there was any way possible but it is to unfair as I am out all day. If anyone with space can help I would appreciate it so much if you could contact me.
  3. Hi there Im new to the forum and this is my first post. Im pretty sure this is where I should post this but please let me know if otherwise! My BC pup Cooper is 9 weeks old and over the last few days we’ve been slowly introducing him to our 2 outside cats. One cat, Ollie is my own, and I was concerned that he’d be frightened by Cooper and run away but so far he’s been coping very well and has been approaching to check Cooper out before walking away. The other cat is named Jaspa, he’s my sister’s cat and he’s the big boss of our property. I was concerned he’d be a bit of a bully, but today he ran up unexpectedly while my sister and I were taking Cooper exploring around our house. He viciously attacked Cooper and my sister and I got between them. It was all screaming and chaos, poor Cooper was crying and my sister managed to kick Jaspa and get him away so she could lock him up for the time being. Cooper has a little cut beneath his eye and he was terrified. It was absolutely horrifying. If you have any experiences similar please share them and if anyone has a recommendation on what to do I’d be grateful. At the moment we’re just going to keep them at a distance and Jaspa will hopefully realise the pup’s harmless and staying. Here’s a picture of Cooper sleeping :)
  4. Hello everyone, We currently have a 5 year old Border Collie my daughter has trained since she was a puppy and whom she is currently training in agility. We are now looking for a second Border, a pup up to about 6 months, to eventually train in agility as well. We have checked the websites of some breeders around the Portland/Vancouver/Salem Oregon area but have not found any pups still available for this summer. We would be perfectly happy with a rescue as well. Is anyone aware of coming litters that are not all spoken for? Ideally we would pick up the puppy after June 15 so my daughter is home from school and could be constantly available for the dog. We have checked with the following breeders websites and have not found any puppies available for this time period, or else the dogs are all spoken for. Oregon Trail Border Collies http://www.oregontrailbordercollies.com/ Butte Ranch Enterprises http://www.butteranchenterprises.com/border-collies.html Highland Kennels http://herdeverything.org/ Hill Crest Border Collies http://www.hillcrestbordercollies.com/ Come Bye Kennel http://comebyekennel.com/ Hidden Valley Border Collies http://www.hiddenvalleybordercollies.com/ We would appreciate both tips about puppies and opinions about these and any other local Oregon/Washington area Border Collie breeders and rescues. Thanks, David
