  1. Thank you so much for the replies. I have absolutely not allowed the nipping. I have been correcting the behavior (and 99% of the time there is no nip, just the threatening of one) and she is good as gold when corrected. She will also lie down when she is asked in the middle of whatever she is doing. The problem does present itself when I am there, but she is corrected and immediately stops the behavior. She also stops when corrected by my husband. I'm sorry I didn't articulate very well, people don't walk into the house, but people do come visit when my husband is there for example. He does not catch the threat of the behavior as quickly as I do, so some almost-pant-nips have occurred. I just can't seem to do the right thing to show her that new people are not scary/threatening/whatever is causing her reaction. Does that make sense? Perhaps I am over-thinking it and should just continue how I have been going? She is admittedly getting (slightly) better with time. I am happy to persevere, and it's really good to know I'm on the right track and I will take your advices on board. Thanks again!
  2. Hello, I thought I would make a topic here as I see some similar ones in search but nothing exactly the same. I have a wonderful 18-month-old BC, Kira. She is an only dog in our family (we do have five cats but no children.) She is smart and has just graduated advanced obedience class. She behaves beautifully in public. However, she has nipped (usually pant legs, occasionally getting legs themselves but it's not an aggressive bite) several people who have come into the house or the yard and once or twice when people who are already in the house have come towards me. Note, this is only people she does not know, she has no problem at all with my husband or with people she knows well. If I am present she will stop the behavior with a quick 'ah' correction. I am not really bothered by this, as I don't usually allow people to wander into my house without my being there, but I wondered if anyone had any tips or tricks? I know that she is trying to make them back off but I can't allow my guests to be herded and risk an accidental bite! She is NEVER dog aggressive, she socializes well with other dogs and aside from a little light chasing she gets on well with our cats too. Just wondered if anyone had any advice? Many thanks.
