  1. A big thank you to you and all fosters, all your efforts make finding forever homes possible. Without you these dogs would not live to find a better life. Thank you.
  2. I have four dogs and white tile...that being said I am wiping paws often. I had read that they do better if you let them do most of the paw lifting. Similar to getting a horse to lift his leg. So, I tap the leg I want to wipe saying " this one" help bring the paw up. Unfortunately, cannot remember how I got them started to do this, but all four do it well now. I believe that I tapped on the leg, then lifts the paw and they got the routine.
  3. One of our dogs is a fast eater, our solution....her food bowl is a muffin tin. Takes her longer to eat twelve small bowls. When I say muffin tin I mean the thing you bake cupcakes in.
  4. Thank you for giving voice to the notion that you needed your dog to heal. It is such an essential part of my soul. Travel safe..we all will be checking for update photos. Good mojo for Anne, we do not bounce as well when we age.
  5. Winner for the most determined traveler=> Mr McCaig. Winner of most transformed dog=> Fly. Don't know many dogs who would have reacted quite as elegantly as she has to her traveling experience. Quite an achievement on so many fronts.
  6. Depending on how sensitive your dog's stomach....water from the old home source. Updated ID on collar. Updated microchip info. Keep routine and feeding the same as much as possible. Our 4 dogs move twice a year, as long as they get to go with us, they don't act like it is an issue at all. Good luck.
  7. Thank you so much for posting. I love Donald's writing and how his love for Fly is expressed.
  8. What a beautiful face, so sorry for your loss.
  9. My Cody is a whiner....totally set off by excitement. He was the best behaved dog when we did agility, but when we would arrive I tied him while I helped set up equipment. As people/ dogs arrived he would squeal with excitement. It was to the point of embarrassment. He would stop if I told him to, then he would be quiet until he could hold it no more and let out a huge squeal. He always settled down, but I treat his whine/ squeal as part of his personality.
  10. Cute, cute dog. I see lots of bc. Wonderful you got him from a rescue.
  11. Gloria....where is my "like" button? Really good advice. Well written.
  12. Thank you all for the information about Dr Sherman Canapp. I looked up his practice and it is loaded with a lot of interesting information . I recommend it highly, hope others post how his presentation goes.
  13. I just put stem cell in the search box upper right, brought a lot of interesting reading. Also, airbear is correct, procedure has some time behind it now. Makes me wonder even more why there are not double blind studies.
  14. I did some research into it for my dog with elbow dysplasia. Could find no double blind studies supporting the procedure. I know the treatment is very expensive, if I spent the money I would be walking behind my dog going, I think it worked, yes I think there is some improvement. I have done this with far less expensive treatments, so hoping for help finally to realize that there was no real improvement. Every article I found stating how great it was , produced by the companies selling the process. My vet, who does the procedure, says the one drawback is the length of time the procedure works ( if it does help your dog in the first place). I have yet to find someone who had the procedure done four years ago and found dramatic improvement. Hope you find such an endorsement.
  15. Have a dog extremely flea sensitive. Frontline just didn't work for us since just one flea caused itching. Now use comfortis, the pill works great. Also, she has bad spring allergies, so she gets a steriod shot ( just once) in the spring.
  16. Thank you, for you writing and your time and patience for a dog that desires it.
  17. Maybe the boobypin was a blessing. Keeping fingers, toes and paws crossed for a quick recovery.
  18. Diane Pagel..... Thank you so much for sharing that story. Sounds like our dog Duchess, who is devoted to my husband. Your tale added lots of smiles to our night.
  19. Your dog was lucky to have you, you were lucky to have her. So sorry for your loss. Know it really hurts, we all wish they would stay with us forever....much sympathy.
  20. I do think some dog/people relationships are better than others. I am very lucky to be able to have my dogs around me almost 24/7. People who have that luxury I would assume have more of a connection to their dog(s) then a dog who resides primarily outside by himself. Just think the more work put into the relationship the more you get out.
  21. So sorry for your loss, Luke was loved deeply and will be missed greatly.
  22. Congrats! My suggestion.. watch the dog. The more you watch your dog, the dog will tell you the pace you can move. I shake my head when I see people walking their new dog while they are on their phone. Watch your dog and she will tell you what worries her and what excites her. Sounds like you have a great adventure in front of you.
  23. Thundershirt works for us. Gracie is still afraid of thunder, but at least she is able to settle in one place. We have had a lot of storms the last two weeks, she now has deemed the bathtub as her spot to wait out the weather. Even has stocked it with her favorite stuffed animals. So I have to empty out the tub before we can use. At least she gets comfort in that location.
