  1. Oh!Howleylooya! Saints be praised! Stand back! I'm just finishing my 10th year.
  2. Another thread got me wondering... How do you get your dogs to hear your clickers at the top of a 600 yd outrun. Do you need microphones? Do the trial rules allow for that? How do the big hats work this problem?
  3. If your questioner is someone you are not likely to meet again, you can say," She just won the USBCHA Finals, Both Open AND Nursery! and has been accepted into Harvard. She has a shelf full of Oscars, and a Pulitzer (for her compositions about the many textures of goat turds). She plans an eventual career in politics." Heres what I tell stangers who are interested in my dog: "She's a good girl." For me, that sezienough.
  4. "She is in training for the Bolshoi Ballet."
  5. I'm also planning to breed my lizard...AFTER we have titles, of course , and after I figure out what sex it is. What color do I breed her/him/them to, in order to produce a merle? I'm going to call my kennel ,"Blue Mist Sport Lizards" or, maybe "Dusty Rose Action Lizards" if red merles are produced.
  6. Dear Boards, I'm a beginner to the sport of agility and I have questions. Can I do agility with my lizard? Does Clicker training work best? I tried it on a snake, but had poor results because snakes have no ears. I had to use hand signals and frequently had to roll him (her? Crikey! How can you tell?) on its/ his/her/ their back to show my dominance. Is that cruel? An electronic collar was not an option because it kept sliding off. Oh yeah, back to my lizard. He (she?) is really good at jumping and running through big fabric tubes. (The snake was awesome.... AWESOME in the giant tube, but really sucked at A-Frame, so he/ she/it/ they was re-homed. Oh Yeah. My lizard. So how would you go about training. I mean, I know how to train,I have a lot of books , but I cant really motivate him/ her. How would you motivate a lizard to want to do agility? Do I have to get my lizard registered by AKC, or are there other registries where she / he/ it/ them can be registered on merit? I still have the electric training collar. Does it work on lizards? He/ she/ has been wearing an electric anti-bark collar for a couple of weeks, and I have NO problem with barking. None.
  7. Does anyone speak in tongues to their dogs on the trial field,m or in training? I'm convinced this should work well, as it is the language of the Holy Spirit, and is the official language of the angels , according to scripture.
  8. Hi Deacon Dog, I sell a lot of lambs this way, and have had very good experience. My immigrant buyers have been, for the most part, very appreciative and respectful. They leave the yard clean, and they pay in cash. A couple of my eastern Europeans are especially skilled butchers. I have improved my butchering techniques by watching these artists at work. I enjoy hearing how my customers plan to cook their lamb. I provide clean running water, clean bucket, clean hand towels, and a pitcher of ice water to drink if its a warm day. I want them to come back! and bring their friends and families. Some of my"ethnic" lamb buyers have been customers for over 10 years. I'd rather my lambs be butchered at home, instead of being crammed in a strange truck, and taken to a strange place to die among strangers.
  9. "When mixed with your dog’s daily drinking water, THE EDGE Powered by AQUA OXYGEN begins to work immediately after your dog takes its first drink. The proprietary water-splitting technology provides safe and bio-available Oxygen and Hydrogen to every cell in the animal’s body. This quenches vital biological needs of your animal to allow for peak performance and recovery. " What a load.
  10. You should look into one of these. They are so new, no single breed name can describe them. http://www.ultimatehorsesites.com/brokenba.../puppypage.html They're bred to work and their tails are docked to prove it. Edit to add: Scroll down to the bottom for some unique information about keeping your pups ears shapely. (Being petted too much causes ugly floppy ears)
  11. I do not cease to be amazed at the variety of people who hang up a shingle, and call themselves "dog trainers". Amazing, Truly!
  12. A caution about vet schools: Vet schools are chalk full of students who NEED surgical experience, and instructors who's number one priority is to give it to them. The people who make decisions at vet schools do not benefit by 'wait and see', even if 'wait and see is in your dog's best interest. See a GOOD (ask around) cainine orthopedic specialist, and work with him / her, to determine the best course of action. If he / she determines that surgery is the best option, THEN you may want to have the procedure done at a vet school.
