  1. Mine always have them on. When I do remove them on occasion I find my dogs want them back o. They will come over and try and slip their head back into the collar. I think they actually feel strange without them.
  2. I guess I am in the minority. When I had Blue (who is no longer with us) and I scolded Tia for something Blue would show very little interest or concern. Now the funny part is that when the roles were reversed and it was Blue that was gettng in trouble (rarly happened but on occasion she was not perfect LOL ) Tia would rejoice, even if she was in the other room I would here her tail start to hit the floor as it began wagging. LOL
  3. Its three parts but well worth watching.
  4. This Dog obviously loves cupcakes!! LOL Go get`em Stains!! http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=H6jsKUw1j8k
  5. Thank you, Blue was a treasure and I was Blessed to have her for 15 years, although even that seems like it was not long enough. She was a very healthy girl right up until the last week of her life. She did start to get arthritic in her final year, a litte slow to get up and slow to lay down, but that was no problem, I would carry her up the stairs at night for bed & she would come down with no problem in the morning. They come into your life so full of energy, you watch them and wonder if they will ever slow down and then one day they do. That’s the hardest for me. But having them by your side for all those years as loyal trusted friends is what makes it all worth it. They hide nothing behind those eyes; they are the personification of unconditional love. True Blue Friends . And you can be sure that Luna will be well represented here. I plan on taking lots of pictures of her as she grows up. She is Black and White like Blue but I have always liked those Split Faced Border Collies too. So we were fortunate enough to get the pick of the litter and as luck would have it, one pup was born with a split face. We already had the name Luna picked out and she was born on Dec 27th, which ironically was the night of a new moon so her name suites her well. Here is Luna on her first day!
  6. GOODBYE OLD FRIEND ! Blue was my 1st Border collie and I guess she was a Lucky accident. I was in an apartment at the time and a relative brought this little pup home but soon found that Blue was more than a handful. I was offered her and not wanting to see her go to the pound I hesitantly agreed. She proved to be a handful that’s for sure and I knew little about this breed. She ate Books Shoes, furniture, socks and any other personal item I left out and about. After two years she finally grew tired of most of these items (or decided to have a heart) and settled down into a very good house mate. Blue was born Aug 1st 1991 and for the next 15 years became my best friend & that one dog that compare all others to. She was loyal, loving & I affectionately came to call her my "shadow". She would follow me from room to room, and we did everything together from walking up town to get her a MR. Freezee on a hot summer day to going Fishing. Her favorite Dinner was spaghetti and she would literally Vibrate with anticipation knowing she would score a small plate for herself. She also loved Dairy Queen and would hang out the vehicles window at the drive-thue to score herself a “Doggie Cone” on occasion. After 15 years with Blue the tough decision came to let her go on November 17th 2008, after she became quite ill. She was having trouble standing up and could not keep food down. This however, did not stop her from continuing to follow me from room to room. She came in and sat down beside me and looked up at me and we both knew it was time. So with a very heavy heart we went for her final “ride in the car”. The Vet said it was "just her time" and so I stayed by her side, just as she had stood by mine for those 15 wonderful years, until she drifted off to sleep. Our ashes will be placed together when my time comes. Blue, you may have left this world but you are still in my heart and will be forever. I guess one of the greatest things Blue gave me was an introduction to how wonderful a breed the border collies were. I found a second Border Collie/Springer Spaniel in Aug of 2001 and Tia was as big of handful as Blue was when she was a pup. I on the other hand was a little more prepared and by this time had a house with a Fenced in yard. Yes there were still lots of chewed up shoes, Socks etc but we persevered and Tia has become a great companion as well. I credit Tia with bringing new life back to Blue when we got her and do not think we would have had Blue for as long as we did had it not been for Tia. Thank you Tia! She loves to run and is a high energy dog as well but since November has been quite depressed without Blue around. We have since decided that Tia will have a new Little sister. Our third Border Collie is on the way . Luna was born Dec 27 2008 on the night of a New Moon and will be another highly anticipated "Handful" I am sure and we are looking forward to every minute of it. Here is the only video I have of my girl. She was only 3 yars old here. Playing with her frind Taffy the schnauzer. They became great friends as well. Goodbye Blue
  7. Where to start? LOL Well Tia use to have a habbit of picking up her entire Food Bowl and carrying it around the house to more comfortable places. It was kind of funny at first but after stepping on Kibble at 4:00 in the morning that was all up and down the stairs on several occasions we decided enough was enough and fixed that by using one of those bowls that fit in beside the Water Bottle thingy. The weight of the water keeps the food bowl anchored to the floor (for now). lol She has from the day we got her, always layed down to eat her dinner as well which is rather quirky. Another quirk is that she is a nest builder and she usually starts around 7:00 pm . Any clothing she finds laying around the house are quietly snuck away up to her bed. She is very careful to snatch them while no one is looking . If there is no clothing around she will resort to the laundry hamper and steal the contents from that. We will be in the other room and hear her making her nightly trips up and down the stairs. Same routine every night, when we do not catch her with her bounty on her way up we remove it when we retire to bed ourselves. The silly girl has a comfy doggy bed with her own blankets and she always ends up in the bed anyway through the night. I really think its the Quirky stuff that give them their unique personalities. The nest building is harmless and has become a game to her I think and waiting to see what new techniques she will employ to get the cloths past us is rather entertaining. Her favorite technique of late is to slowly walk up to an article of clothing , say a sweat shirt grab it and then run like crazy for the stairs with one of us behind her. Generally f she makes it to the stairs she is home free! (Until we retire anyway) . It reminds me of Willy E Coyote and the Sheepdog Fred and all the stuff Willy does to steal the sheep. Only she is the Coyote and we are Fred. Our older Dog Blue (who passed away in November of 08) could open cupboards and had a knack at letting herself into the house. Tia always ended up being left outside while Blue let herself in. We would let them out for a run ( Yard is Fenced) and Blue would just come back in the house on her own and wait for her "Cookie" and leave Tia standing at the door looking in. Tia has not mastered the Door "trick" yet but on a few occasions since November after letting her outside for her run I have found Tia waiting patiently in the kitchen for her Cookie .
  8. My two love the snow. Blue, the Black and White girl, is no longer with us (we lost her in November after 15 years) but Tia is still chasing snowballs and digging tunnels . Here is a video that came to mind when I saw this thread. I think the question is answered nicely by this dog!
  9. We have a new one on the way and went through the name thing too. LOL Kayla , Kali ,Tundra , Aurora , Sky were all possibilities but we finalluy settled on LUNA. The cool thing is that we finally decided the name in early Decmeber and she was born at 3:00 AM on Dec 27th which was 2 days past her "expected " Christmas arrival date and turned out to be the night of a New Moon, So the Birth of the Moon brought Luna into the world!
  10. Will be getting a new addition to the family soon and I I stumbled upon this information today. Has anyone had any experience with using Tamiflu to fight against Parvo virus ? Apparently it works great if used in the very early stages of the disease. She also states that it works against canine bordetella as well. Next time I am at my vets I plan on asking him if he has heard of using tamiflu. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTmUevHCHcI
  11. Blue was my first Border Collie and my "Heart Dog" . I was in an appartment and had a cat so had no intentions of getting a dog but my mother picked up this "cute little puppy" but within two weeks and sevaral pairs of shoes she was at her wits end on how to manage such a "handfull". So I took blue and yeah she ate her share of boots, shoes , books and even a bowl full of rum balls one night! LOL But we surived and she became the best darn friend one could ask for. A friendship that lasted 15 years and three months in fact. Sadly I had to see her off to rainbow bridge in November of 08 and miss my shadow every day. Blue was also the dog that showed me that Border Collies were everything I wanted in a companion. I decided to pick up another pup 7 years ago to keep Blue an the family company so I added Tia to our Family. She is a springer Spaniel BC cross and is a lovable girl. After blue left us I decided to add another BC puppy and located a breeder with a litter that was due in December. I picked a name out for her in Early December. As I mentioned my 1st BCs name was Blue so I figured in honour of Blue I would name the new addition Luna which also means Moon . Get it ? Blue Moon. What was so funny is this . Luna came into this world on the of December 27th 2008 which also was a New Moon! I just noticed this last week. Somethings are just meant to be I guess. Here are a couple pics of Blue. One as a young lady who loved to chew shoes, books and boots, the other as a wise old girl who followed me from room to room till her last days with me.
  12. This is funny and so well performed . I think Fly is gone now but what a great performer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5TW_uKSCUA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqDETgk44kA
