  1. There is a vet in Huntersville that does rehab, she is a new to rehab vet but did a decent job with my dog that severed her digital flexor tendon. I believe I previously gave you her information? SHe is not afraid to consult either. Let me know if you need it again
  2. I have 2 puppy sheep and I know Julie has some as well..
  3. I have 2 well dogged sheep for sale too that I could add to Julie's group if you want those as well?
  4. I am in Columbia, SC. The Capital and in the middle of the state. We are in the NE side of town not far from I-77. My home e-mail is robandmarcia@aol.com. Thanks Robin Bacon

  5. where in SC are you? I know a very good breeder in Brevard NC that actually has a puppy he would put in a pet home now I think (he breeds sheep/cattle dogs). I have 2 dogs of his breeding, for sheep/cattle, work and love them both to death. I highly recommend him.

There is also a breeder down in GA that is respectable in the herding community. Let me know if you are interested.

  6. There are several different types/strengths of ankle braces that you can get, I know this because i have a dog with a severed digital flexor tendon, from simple support to a stronger support. Here is another link http://www.animalorthocare.com/pages/links.cfm
  7. I have 24petwatch chips in my dogs. I know where in NC you can get them chipped but you can also call the company and they will tell you what vets in your state microchip with their company
  8. According to my vet you can vaccinate pups (intranasally) at 6 weeks, but it must be done 72 hrs before exposure. But considering your dog was vaccinated and still got kennel cough I think I would hold off on getting the pup since kennel cough tends to be harder on younger/older dogs. You may also want to ask your vet how long after symptoms subside that they are still shedding the virus, as I belived it is a longer period of time than you would expect, but someone may know better.
  9. The one I am "fostering" never gets the hint....dogs can physically body slam her and she never gets the hint. And OMG they are hard headed.....
  10. Hey hey hey now...I have a holy terror in my house right now and I don't even own her......since I've had her for what like 2 months does that make me a non dog savvy owner??????? And she definately isn't a border colle! My 15 week old border collie pup has better manners than this 6 month old lab!
  11. And thank you to Robin and all the rest of you who did work so hard and made it so easy for some of us who were running our dogs at our first trial!
  12. The latest protocol in heart worm treatment that includes the doxy to kill the bacteria now says to do 2 rounds of the doxy although most DVM's still tend to only do 1 round before starting any real treatment for the heartworms. Also don't know if your vet told you but it is best to keep any dog with an active case of heartworms quiet as the load on the heart because of the heartwoms is huge and even though the heartworms aren't dying and sloughing off yet (due to not treatment) extra activity paired with the load on the heart can cause damage. The doxy can also have some anti -inflamatory properties too it too. Sorry I have seen too many dogs go through heartworm treatment, including an 11 yo dog that I own!
  13. 3) As for the fitness thing... I do expect to use different muscles, but I can't help but wonder why anyone bothers to ride, if riding a horse is as much exercise as walking/running alongside? Because of the grand partnership that you develop with the horse. Once you have gotten the riding bug it doesn't leave you. There are times when you just long to sit on a horse, to have that unspoken partnership and understanding. Kind of like what I am learning to have with my dogs when working sheep.
  14. I have also had sucess with Get Serious stain remover.
  15. Eating old feed that inlcudes corn can also cause a problem similar to this as well. I can't recall the name of the condition at this time, because I am having a senior moment, but when my dog was coughing up blood this was a concern since I have a farm with horses.
