  1. Thanks you all! I was SO HAPPY to see her face I cried. I love her so much.
  2. The person that picked her up took her to the animal shelter!!!! In the meantime i was posting fliers, online, and got someone to look at the gas station videos. Yay, I have my girl back. I was crying all day and what a relief!!!! Thanks everyone. I was so so sad I missed her to death.
  3. I have cried all day. She got out of the yard (and just minutes after I noticed she was gone) and supposedly this woman was seen putting her in her car at a savastep gas station in New Albany, IN. She has her 24hourpetwatch.com tags with all of our updated information. Why wouldn't this woman call us? Is she stealing my dog? Fae is my best friend and I've cried constantly. Can anyone give me advice? Should I call the police? Fae is the white dog with brown spots in the picture...I'm going down to the animal shelter tomorrow. I love her so much. I'm giving a $100 reward to anyone who finds her. I'm so sad. I never thought this would happen. No one can even begin to understand how much my heart hurts.
  4. I think it really depends on how much effort you put into it. With children that young, i think you'd have to know what you're doing. When I got Sage as a puppy, he wouldn't stopped biting at my legs and everything. He kept on trying to herd me. It took a few weeks of everyone being firm and teaching him to stop. Eventually, we could go on a nice walk! He still pulls, though. He's good with children, but likes to jump so he's not idea of a toddler. He's not really a nipper except with other dogs and can be realllllly relaxed a lot of the time. I thought we were over our heads when we got him, but I read some training books, kept him busy with tricks because they need mental stimulation, and we made it all work. I never thought of him as a terror, though. They just need to be taught. They can be easily trained if you know what you're doing...or get help.
  5. This might seem to simple and completely off base, but when my friend's dogs and myself went for a walk in the snow, they would randomly limp for a while and then stop like they were fine. We were so worried, but it ended to being the salt getting inbetween their feet---which can cause a burning sensation. Don't know the seriousness of your situation, but if you were walking in snow or where salt could be, it could be...probably way off base, but just adding input in case. They would limp for a minute and then suddenly be fine. On and off. We washed their feet and didn't go walking until everything cleared up again and they were fine.
  6. I give my pups innova, which is a really good dog food, but can make their poop runny sometimes. It's really expensive, though. I back $60 a bag for like 30 pounds. In my opinion, it's one of the best. I've worked at health food stores, etc. Look at this site: People rate how good the food is for their dogs... Your Dog Food
  7. Yeah, everything with Sage turned out fine. It worried me, though. I was just wondering how common it was. He had to have two incisions. He was/is over 6 months, but not too much over. Poor boy.
  8. Is this common? Would his testicals have ever descended? It was weird when the vet first told me this. And he's chewed his stitches out and now has staples. Luckily, things are good with Fae girl when she was spayed, though.
  9. I saw Rachel Ray has new dog food. No byproducts and number one ingredient is meat. It's something worth looking into.... http://www.rachaelray.com/pets/nutrish.php?view=
  10. When we got our dog Sage (he's 5.5 months now) he actually wasn't as crazy as we thought he would be. Not to mention, we live in an apartment without a backyard. You'd think it should be a disaster with a purebred border collie, but it's definitely been the opposite. If he kept this energy he has now through out his whole life we would be so happy. I mean, he plays like a puppy and gets hyper sometimes but as soon as he stepped into our home, we started the training. Training really gets his mind working. Keywords: training and exercise. We either take him to the dog park everyday or throw a frisbee in a fenced in area for as long as he'll do it. He gets hardcore exercise average 2 hours per day. The rest of our time with him is pretty much a breeze because most of his energy has been zapped. He loves to cuddle with us and sit and watch television. He loves to sleep with as a well. I'm thinking we got pretty lucky with Sage. Also, we feed him high quality dog food---Innova. That could have something to do with it.
  11. My puppy, now almosy 4 months did the same thing. It drove me crazy. I wouldn't be able to get through a walk without him doing that the majority of the time. I don't know if this is commonly recommended, but I talked to a woman with two dogs who taught them not to bite by holding the dog's mouth shut, looking into the dogs eyes, and saying, "No bite." Obviously, don't hurt the dog or act mad. Then you continue on the walk and if he does it again, stop and do the same thing over and over. My dog doesn't do that anymore and when he's tempted, I tell him "no bite" before he does it. When he doesn't bite, I praise him. He hasn't gotten aggressive on me or anything. He's the happiest dog ever, but that worked for me.
  12. Wow, that's serious. Yes, take her to the ER before something bad happens! Poor baby!
  13. I actually went to a VET'S OFFICE and the receptionist asked me, "Oh what kind of dog is that?" I said, "He's a Border Collie." She said, "Are you sure he's a Border Collie? Do you have his papers?" I said, "Look, he's a Border Collie. He's a red one and they're not bred for their color." She just looked at me like I was lying. Sheesh, I got him from a breeder and have his ABCA papers. People usually think he's an Aussie, Husky, or German Shepherd.
  14. I have a puppy that LOVES other dogs, people, and just everyone. He's a very confident puppy around happy and balanced dogs. We've socialized him with people and other dogs everyday since we got him. We have one neighbor that thinks her dog is friendly. Sage gets a bit fearful around this dog--an uncommon response to most dogs he is around. This woman's dog will GROWL and look really irritated and she'll just say "Oh, she's just PLAYING." While she says this Sage is in a very fearful, don't hurt me, submissive position. I'm just wondering how to tell her to leave my dog alone. It's weird how people can convince themselves that they have friendly dogs. Her dog is just plain mean and is NOT playing, but rather annoyed and unsocialized. An annoying puppy doesn't help either. She always brings her dog up to ours in the yard. She knows I'm scared of her dog biting mine, but she continues to say, "Oh, that's just her way of playing and she loves cats, too." Ah, it kills me.
