  1. how cool! another band person! I'm sorry I don't have any real advice for you, because my parents never really supported the idea of adopting an adult dog, so I was stuck with my little bundle of fun. But, I would really like to rescue in the future.
  2. I understand now, You like to post a poem for the dogs who have passed on. I thank you very much and I apologize for me being so clueless.
  3. Now, this has nothing to do with a dog going anywhere , but Shiloh knew her the difference between her left and right paw . All it took was A LOT of repetition and the same amount of cut-up hot dogs. she was really quite stubborn if I didn't have them.
  4. I got that one in an email before!!!!! ha ha small world. My mom didn't think it was very funny , but I was laughing up a STORM! + -Janeen
  5. The breeder where I got Abby from had one red boy, and the parents were both black. The lady said that the momma dog gets it a lot.
  6. Abby and Pepper do the same thing! Just Abby comes halfway and Pepper does what you were talking about. It gets kinda frustrating.
  7. Abby has a few; 1. Abbykinz 2. Absters 3. Her royal dorkness 4. miss rockin abbs 5. Abigail
  8. How fun! I wish I could have ducks, but living in arizona, it is a wee bit too hot.-the water would be gone and full of dead algae in a week- I think I should better stick with my goat and Abby.
  9. we have a mirror in our office and it is low enough for abby to see herself in, and every time she passes the mirror, she kisses her reflection.
  10. Your dogs are beautiful. I love Shiloh's eyes.she looks kinda like a mix of both my shiloh and my new pup, Abby. here are some pics of them. I have posted them before, but I think they will do. We used a bark collar because Shiloh was always very stubborn, and we were never close enough to punish her immediately, so that was kind of convenient, but if your Shiloh is sensitive to that kind of thing, then a bark collar is a no.
  11. I used to have a dog named Shiloh, she would bark A LOT (and chase), at cars and such driving up the road parallel to our property, she just took it upon herself to be guard dog since our other dog is partially blind and cannot guard very well. we tried an e collar and it would work quite well, until it ran out of batteries. we then just assumed that that was one of her many jobs here. hope this helps, -Janeen
  12. about the tail thing, my pup has a "happy tail" when she's sniffing things, and she's a purebred bc -Janeen
  13. About crate training, how do you do that? I know you get her used to it first, but then do you just keep her in there for maybe a few hours at a time and then let her outside? This would be my first time crate training and i would kinda like to do it right. just a quick answer, I don't want to ruin the thread.
  14. My grandmother has a bichon mix, and he got a foxtail in his paw. Two surgeries, and a thousand bucks later, the foxtail was removed. It was really infected. If that is a foxtail, you should get it checked soon, or it might get expensive. unless it is very shallow in, but g's dog had his DEEP in. My grandfather had a dog who would get foxtails in his ears quite regularly. Hope this helps. -Janeen
  15. Oh, okay but don't a lot of the people on this site offer a lot of comfort? Why pick me???
