  1. I don't think I would take your dog, can you put him in a kennel or leave him with a friend???
  2. Mine are kept in an outside kennel with dogs doors to the outside. We use straw mixed with ceder chips, about 3 or 4 inches.
  3. So far, it seems from what I've read in some threads, walking on eggshells is a normal part of life in this place with some posters...wonder if I'll stay here? There seems to be so much to learn here but at what cost? Kind of sad really. I agree with you, I don't post much anymore because of that very reason. I usually don't even sign on. I'ts always the same people that if you don't agree you're on their list. I've learned to do what I want and don't ask any questions. You can't ask a question without the "experts" and "know it all" circling the wagons and making you feel stupid, and yes it is sad. Ken
  4. This should help. http://www.usfdr.com/search.html
  5. You can get it new at Amazon.com for $26.00 and used for less. Ken
  6. I thing they (eyes) will be green, but it dosen't matter. The bad thing, you want them all. I said on Dog #4 that "that was it" and then came this one. It breaks my heart sometimes. Ken
  7. Rescue/Shelter, the mother was killed by a horse kick. She is not full blooded but she sure lookes like it. It just seemed to work out, but I sure didn't want to get one this way. She was the last to go.
  8. Speaking of a new puppy, I got one. We always wanted a Red & White along with the Black & White so we found one. This makes 5. Her name is Meg and she will be so spoiled.
  9. I have had many dogs in my life and I now have 4 BC's. There has never, never been a problem with kids, infact you might have to pull the dogs off because of all the licking. Good Luck. PS, best dogs I have ever had.
  10. It dosen't look too bad. One of my dogs did it in the winter and she lost a lot more hair. It really looked bad and I was concerned about the cold weather. She had most of the hair on her tail, but it came back in a month or so and looks great. I fed her some fish oil with her food.. Good Luok
  11. I also like the odd markings in a dog, but you got to live them all. KS
  12. I use a tennis racket, works great and will go forever.
  13. Thanks for the feedback, I have ordered it. Ken
  14. This has been the worst year for ticks that I have seen in a long time. We have always used "Frontline Plus" on the 4 BC's. When I went to the vet to get it this year, they are not carrying it any longer and have switched to "Pro Meris". I have read some info in the other areas of the board and really don't want to use it, but has anyone experenced this? I can still get Frontline but just not at the Vet's office.
  15. Dixie Girl, I don't agree with you, it's needs to be a law. After the accident and God forbid, someone is hurt or killed, that's just too late to penalize someone for not having their car under control. If it's not a law, there is no bite. (pun)
  16. I have 3 BC's, a house cat and 2 barn cats. Molly, one of my dogs is also obsessed with the inside cat. She will follow the cat for hours, in a playful way. Even when we let her out for bathroom time, she will go right back to the cat. Once in a great while, she will jump in my lap and settle down. The funny thing, she could care less about the outside cats. You're right when they have their attention on the cats, there is no pulling her off. I do have some training to do, but who knows.. Ken
  17. Mudpups, I'm sure thats true. It breaks my heart not to let him in and he seems so pitiful when he has to stay outside when one of the girls runs in the house and I am sure they let him know when they go back outside. I like the lead idea that Shetlander has and making a spot for just him near a chair is a great idea, maybe with a bone or something and just for him. I do beleave that I am more attached to the females and my wife is attached to the males. Do other people see this and why? Also FoxgloveBC I have one BC that puts her head underneath my hand and makes me give her attention at times. It is so cute. Thanks for the great info. Ken
  18. I was looking because my Dutchess tore her's open today. I once had to get one stiched, but I don't know if it was necessary. Today, I think it was the ice outside and I have 3 and they run until they drop, so i'll do nothing.
  19. Mary, he is so cute!!!!! I can't help it, I laughed when I was him, but in a cute way. Ken
  20. I have both, and the females are more loveable. they all were raised from pups about the same and the male is a little more standoffish. The females come in at least once a day to play or sleep in my lap, but when we bring the male in, he wants to mark his territory and we just can't trust him. I would love to have him in more but I can't have that. Any suggestions? Ken
