  1. I really believe the parting's only for a little while, but it's so hard to say goodbye. You're in my prayers.
  2. That's a lovely thought. And I'm quite certain she'll wait for you. Hugs and prayers for you and DH.

What a sweet tribute site. Many of us have lost our beloved friends to this terrible disease. Your sweet girl will live in your hearts until you meet again at the Bridge.
  4. Your Nikita will live forever in your heart, and she'll be waiting for you at the bridge with all the love you gave her. Prayers and warm hugs.
  5. Oh, no... Here's some more mojo. There's just nothing worse than a missing dog. My coonhound boy Bo went missing for almost a week when he was younger and finally got back to us only because all our dogs wear collars with a "call collect" tag. He was down to bones. He disappeared for about three hours last fall, and we were both terrified that he'd gone off and had a heart attack somewhere out in the woods... but he'd just followed his nose off on a (blessedly short) adventure. Praying you get your boy back safe and healthy!!
  6. I use Rescue Remedy for Belle, but would give her Xanax in a heartbeat if I could find a vet who would prescribe it for her. Mine (who I otherwise love) thinks ACE is the shiznitz. We tried it. Once. Rescue Remedy at the "starting dose" of 4 drops is useless for my Belle. I start with 8 and give her another 8 in half an hour. It helps -- actually, it helps quite a bit -- but she is still afraid, trying to dig through the floor, etc. Unfortunately, there are NO rooms without windows in our little house. I think that would help. Crating is no help whatever. If we leave the bathroom light on, she can find a little comfort there. It's small and bright. Until I found the Rescue Remedy, I was quite afraid she'd have a stroke or heart attack during a storm. She's 11, and I still worry about it some, but not as much. She was a rescue and came out of a puppy mill. I can't imagine how awful that was for her in a cage and terrified to boot. I've adjusted by taking everything off the lowest shelves of the bookcases and getting the extension cord outlets out of cozy corners. But I'd still love to be able to talk my vet into something that would put her more at ease.

I'm so sorry to hear of your family's loss. It's never easy to let such a good friend go, and especially one who's been with you so long. Hugs.
  8. My prayers are with you. This is the most difficult time any of us face with our dearly loved companions. Be strong for your girl; she needs you now more than she ever has. When the time has come and gone, your tears will help you heal. Hugs to you both.
  9. What a lovely tribute. But now, I gotta find a kleenex. Beautiful girl...
  10. I'm so sorry for your loss. The crab apple tree is perfect. Years from now, you'll see it and smile about your beloved crabby girl.

    Bute

What a sweet boy, and so well loved. There's no good time to lose a beloved friend, but it must be especially to have to say good-bye so soon. Bute was a beautiful soul, and that never dies.
  12. I love the movie! Hokey? Yeah, but hokey is fine with me. Year of the Working Sheep Dog is terrific as well. The TV series is starting to show up on eBay now, and it's on my short list
  13. That's a hard anniversary, Bustopher. She was a beautiful girlie.
  14. What a beautiful face and a good long life, but we never have enough time with them. I'm sorry for your loss.
  15. There's never enough time with them. Sorry you lost your girl so soon.
