My vet just quoted $429 for a teeth cleaning that included a whole list of tests. Previously a year ago I had a teeth cleaning at another vet for $104 and don't remember any extra tests. My questions is what is really required? I realize there is some danger with the anesthetic for a dog that is unhealthy but how much testing is really required for a seemingly healthy dog? I don't need a cleaning now but was just checking for a friend and was surprised at the cost. Thanks for any input. Mike

I have had a diarrhea problem with my BC for months and the vet offered nothing but pills that cleared it up temporarily. I finally decided she was allergic to beef which was given to her occasionally from table scraps. I stopped that and feed only Nutro lamb and rice and have had no problems for over 6 months. I see above some are cooking pork at least for treats. I have always understood that pork is bad for dogs in any form.

Please explain why I will "regret it". Last summer I trimmed my rough coat BC in the heat of the Texas summer. Before trimming I couldn't walk her after 8:00 AM without her getting overheated. Her coat is so thick even after trimming that there is no chance of a sunburn. By now it has all grown back and summer is approaching so I am trying to understand why I shouldn't trim her again. I have read all the posts about their coat insulating them from the sun but it doesn't make sense to me.
