  1. Are your two pups litter mates? They're very cute!
  2. Well, he was already soaking wet from the rain. hehe.
  3. I never went through any horrid changes with Blaze during that time frame. He did go through a time of 'loosing his brain' but I can't for the life of me remeber what age that was (must have only been a short time ). You just keep working with them, enforcing rules that have been in place since they were young pups, and go about life with the attitude that it's only a short time frame that it will last. About the snarky exchanges - nip it in the bud early and quickly. I've been through it. It's not fun to work through and it takes alot of work, but it can be done.
  4. Blaze and I went out to practice agility today and it was cloudy. I thought, yay, it won't be so dang hot. We're working on some distants jumping (meaning, jumping further away from me) and he was doing great. Then it started to sprinkle, I thought "well, it's not bad'. LOL I wanted to work on sending him from my other side so we start that. Then it starts raining harder. Meh, whats a little rain? Hah, it starts pouring HARDER, so we end on a good note, and I'm like "BLAZE! INside the house!" Now, "IN" means 'get in the pool/lake/pond/water'. Haha, he runs to the pool and jumps in. I'm like 'Blaze wth are you doing?' Then I said "Blaze I said INside the house!" And he just looks at me. . .Then I remembered I had said Blaze 'IN the house' *facepalm* Way to go, Blaze, for listening to your crazy onwer.
  5. I started with chicken, then went from there. My guys love turkey necks. The ones I bought were about 8in in length and they ate it in one sitting.
  6. I fed Innova Puppy with EVO mixed in as he got older when Blaze was a pup. He did fantastic on it.
  7. I've tried EVO, TOTW, Nature's Variety Instinct, and Diamond Naturals. My guys do well on any of them. So right now, with 4 dogs, we're feeding Diamond Naturals Extreme Athlete. Karen, where do you purchase your TOTW if you don't mind me asking. Thats a great price.
  8. Could he just be crated or left in another room/part of the house? I agree with what others have said, it would probably be a better idea to either let him go stay at a friend or family members house or crate him in another part of the house. Also, with lots of new people in your house -and just lots of people in general- going in and out during the party, a door could accidentely be left open and he could run out.
  9. Ugh, I know. We have neighbors who have no clue about things called 'leashes'. It's gotten to the point where sometimes I can't even walk my own dog because I know she doesn't get along with one of the loose dogs. And I won't run the risk of harming either dog, when the dog was clearly in MY yard. And we also have an Aussie run up to us on walks because his owners let him roam. They even have a fenced yard for the dog, for heaven sake. Thankfully he's friendly and is what I call 'a blonde dog'. It's very annoying. The main reason why I don't walk my dogs in the neighborhood much anymore unless it's early early in the morning when all dogs are still put away.
  10. Thanks for all the positive vibes ladies. But they returned her because the owner felt he didn't have enough time for a new puppy. Which I'm happy he was honest about it and didn't let her suffer just because he wanted another dog. But I'm sad she still hasn't found a home.
  11. First, thanks everyone who offered help and suggestions. We dropped her off to be boarded with the rest of the dogs at the vet Saturday - we're on vacation right now. We got a call Monday from the vet tech who's been working with us (the one who really wanted her), saying a couple came in and wanted to take her home for a trial stay (good sign!). They have two children (I think she said 6 and 10) and they also have another Lab. The tech has handled everything, just called to give us an update and ask if it was okay for her to go for a trial stay with them. So fingers crossed that this home will be a good one where she'll be well cared for and loved for the rest of her life.
  12. Just wanted to say thanks for all the help and encouragment. She's still here. We put up a flyer at the vets trying to find a home, and no one has called. My last resort was to call our local HS that I didn't really like, and I called them yesterday and they are full and can't take her. But my parents have agreed to boarding her (much to my suprise) for the week since there is literally NO other option besides giving her to the pound to be PTS. But I'm not stressing anymore. If she finds a home, great. If not, and she stays here, thats okay too.
  13. Definitely agree with this. I would not kennel dogs together - even if they did get along. We board our two males (who get along most of the time) and since they can get on each others nerves, they are always in seperate runs. The dogs know the boarding/vet staff very well, but it's still a high stress area with so many other dogs in the same room/s. Boarding dogs together in the same kennel is a risk that isn't worth taking, IMO. I, too, would be upset if the boarding staff didnt call me to let me know something had happened to my dog.
  14. I'm pretty sure I've already contacted them, and they can't take her. (they're starting to run together I've contacted so many) Thank you, though. I'd rather see her get a home before I leave, but I guess if she doesn't, there is just nothing I can do about that. The only bad thing about this is, I'm getting attatched. Blerg!
  15. Yeah, I'm suprised too. Who knew, nobody wants a cute little lab puppy. Lol
  16. Only one HS offered to put her on a 'waiting list', and even then the lady said it was going to be a while before she got in.
  17. I know, mbc, those are my feelings.
  18. Another update: Called 3 more rescues/shelters in Alabama; all full. Haha, it's almost funny now. <sigh> You never realize, though, just how many dogs are homeless, if all these rescues/foster homes/shelters are full.
  19. I called Southern HOPE. They are full. I also called 5 (2 Lab/Golden rescues, and 3 all breed rescues) other rescues in the Atlanta area; all full. So. . .yeah. . .
  20. If nothing else works out, I probably will. The only downside to the rescue Mary posted, is it's more than 3 hours away. But if it's the only thing left to do, guess we'll do it!
  21. Thought I would give you all an update. I had one more rescue in mind to contact, and they are completely full. So, I'm at a stand-still as to what to do. I'm working with the vet tech as she had two couples in mind that might like her. If niether of the couples would like her, not sure what I'll do. . .
  22. Blaze does the same bark Odin does. Except, it's more of a "ohhh helloooo!!" friendly howl. The foster lab puppy howls. Loud, too. LOL
  23. No. Really though, I don't want to keep her. In no way do I want a Lab - IF I was getting another dog it would be a Border Collie. And I honestly don't want another dog. . .I'm happy with my two. Oddly enough, Blaze is ignoring her. Jake. . .his eyes glaze over I think when he sees a 'female'
  24. Temporary Shay, I'm praying she does. She'd be in great hands.
