  1. Dixie Girl and I shipped McDreamy by Ushipit . He was picked up in a suburban coming from Texas in South Carolina. He arrived in Pa 28 hours later he took wonderful care we had his cell phone to check on him ...also he kept us up on his pick ups and drops along the way. He made him a bed on the front seat but Mick decided to ride in the back with the mans dog part way. The cost was 200.00 Katie
  2. He's a great dog ...no fear issues e mail me I'll send you my phone # Katie
  3. Thought maybe someone reading this may know someone looking for a great dog. Kid ,cat, other dog friendly. Neutered ...heartworm neg...current on all shots. Vet on Fri he loved him.. too full to take him home. Would do best with another young dog to play. Katie
  4. The pup is adorable...could you post the name of the custom collar place would like to get my rescue girl one. Katie
  5. Wow Dr McDreamy praying did the trick!!!! Dixie Lillie at Glenhighlands said he's a real gem !! So glad your nephew is doing great all jokes aside. Now you can go back to enjoying your guys!! Katie
  6. I adopted a black& white dog 12 yrs ago. He was on his 4th home in 11 mos. I had lost my little dog after 17 yrs . So as he didn't have good prospects in the shelter with his history home he came. On the 1st afternoon in my lunch room at work he chewed a leg almost off an antique chair.Came in the front door jumped on my diningroom table set for Thanksgiving hubby said he's not staying On his first roadtrip he chewed off the seatbelts and got out in Olive Gardens parking lot took 45 min to catch. He was stolen at age 6 on Martin Luther King day from his yard and brought back tranquilized on Fri. I thank them every day for bringing him back close enough to home to be found. Our oil man carried him home in freezing rain too slick to drive our driveway (200ft)and 3 neighbors brought him presents. He was a kleptmaniac anything not tied down was his.Ours the neighbors didn't matter. He used to stand on the foot stool bark and hit me with his paw to sit down so he could sit on my lap. Friend said he can't boss you like that never told her 12 yrs later we still do it. He loved every child and always had neighborhood dog friends. Raised 7 grandbabies put up with everything... He went to puppy school when I first got him lasted 3 days he wouldn't pay attention didn't even charge me. Next to puppy class distracted all the labs etc we were encouraged to do private classes. He's infamous in the small neighborhood for all his escapades. Good thing its a 3 street town and all good dog people. I now foster have 3 young Border rescues and he still doesn't walk well on a leash and hubby needs to get him in from the yard he plays keep away with me. So its all whats your tolerence level for a pup..and expectations just love and companionship they are the breed . We worked the Humane Society fundraiser today they loved everyone all 4 Katie
  7. Can always tell a white lie....mom will take Jewel but not the other 2. Which isn't true as we live 2 miles away and they don't want to go home when the BC are here playing. They all get along well and travel together constantly. I did say keep peace ...their Mom is dead and she visits very seldom she's really coming to see the kids. I'm sure she's a B---- to my daughter but sometimes she sulks with the best. So put out food let the other relatives come and make the best of it life is too short!!! We'll do something fun when their gone with the dogs. Ps most times I like the dogs & grandkids best And you Dixie stop giving her ideas !!!! LOL Katie
  8. I like the new Gentle Walker best it attatches the leash to the front of the halter on their chest. I ordered off E-bay ...and the foster walked like a champ in a short time. They seem to like it better than the muzzle type. Katie
  9. We all had a great time Dixie Girl you would have been so proud of your boy. I tried the agility for fun with McDreamy , between every jump he jumped up and gave me kisses. then ran to the next everyone was laughing. He ran out the gate right to Tom and I called and waved a toy he came running back and did some more jumping. Earlier in the day he chewed my crate and came running to us up the hill ..what a dog !! All the dogs tested and passed CGC . Frodo had a great last run we had a great time. Treated Penny to a massage after her hard life to treat her. Katie
  10. I'm not sure if I'm lucky or manage to give a look like with the kids that meant "your oh so dead " when we leave church. My next to last rescue came in 3 AM and they all sniffed him and took him swimming at 3AM . They all squabble for rank a little I growl and they disperse. Only one that trys and trys me is the "Jack" he never gives up they all learn to ignore him or step on him etc. My one rescue learned to tip his head at the JR so I couldn't see his wonderful smile except I knew so he got told knock it off all the time. Not sure he ever figured out how I knew. Its so great you care for him and let him stay one of my rescues had 5 homes in 15 mos its so hard on them. Best off luck Katie
  11. Kerry Any scedule of events as to time and what the contest are ?? Katie
  12. No one has addressed the fact that with leash laws and homeowners policies this has many more scenarios. A real valuable tool I try to teach is drop to a down from a hand signal with a growl of his name and tone telling him no way . In Pa I just got a call from the dog warden, Frodo went through his electric fence and chased a bike...advised next time will be to the magistrate for a fine. $300.00 Sure can't afford that or taking rescues will surely have to end. As far as beware of dog signs and telling people he bites. If he does and someone gives a statement that you know, it can be disatrous we have people on a first bite have to get rid of their dog or loose their homeowners. And no company picks up a dog with a bite history. It doesn't really have anything to do with poor dog he felt trapped. Its poor family who gets caught in this mess, either child bit or you giving up your dog. I wouldn't chastise the child it would be the dog how dare you . As the last thing you want him to think maybe its okay all your energy went to telling the child then the dog. He gets it first when you see it happening and then tell the child that wasn't very nice . If people want to yell no way!!! I take rescues and if I get in trouble ...I can no longer help these dogs so all things need to be considered. My last rescue was nervous around all children and strangers kids as old as 14 I kept him out of situations with them. And advised the rescue he needed to go to no children home and why. Did I beleive he was capable of a bite yes if circumstances were right. There all all things to be considered ...he has a good home ...he's loved...fed ...and expected to behave and tolerate at times . And has you to protect him when all seems coming at him forget the kid thats someone elses deal yours is him. Katie
  13. There are some wonderful rescue dogs out there. They can be shipped ...need to find someone to work with and get a trust going. At 6 mo people know pretty much how they are with kids. I adopted a 15 mo old on his 4th home Dixie Girl helped me with it he passed his canine good citizen the 2nd week we love him. I can tell you where I am if you let people know where you are everyone can steer you in the right direction. At this time I have a 3yr old rescue ...18 mo old and 15 mo old and 2 old dogs and foster . The 3 yr old had a rough life doesn't wish to do agility ...so she lounges . The 18 mo old has an on off personality we may do it we may not ...let me see And the new boy McDreamy is always up and game so he'll be my main dog and... Frodo to back him up maybe. Before someone says every dog can be trained ...yes they can but I want them to like and enjoy . Katie
  14. My 12 yr old still likes to sit on my lap for cuddles. When I first got him and knew nothing he used to get on the foot stool bark and hit me with his paw to sit down so he could sit he was 11 mos then. I thought it was wonderful someone told me your letting him boss me around ...so I told him don't do it when anyone is around....LOL Katie
