  1. What a beautiful video. Sad but so inspiring! Really enjoyed seeing the love between the boy and his dog.
  2. A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS 1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful. 2. Give me time to understand what you want of me. 3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being. 4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you. 5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me. 6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it. 7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you. 8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak. 9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old. 10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you. Always!
  3. Popcorn has had the wobblies and the drunk walk when overheated too. VERY scary indeed. But scarier is the fact that if he gets any hotter he has seizures. We fixed it by playing with the dogs early in the morning or later in the evening when it is coolest. We also play only in the yard where I have their kiddie pool filled to the brim. And I keep it in the shade. And this way, they don't over heat anymore. A simple fix for us. And best of all, Poppy hasn't had a single seizure this year!
  4. Welcome! Sounds like you are smack on the right road. You sound like a great owner for a BC! And I know what you mean about people sounded all shocked about anyone wanting to own a BC. Which is ok with me. Because all people are not right for BC's. It takes a special person to be compatible with them, and to be able to commit to living with one. The only thing is... think of the fun and joy that all those prejudiced Non-BC people are missing...
  5. All I can say calmly, is: I agree with all of the above.
  6. Pepper does that to Popcorn when he barks at the vaccuum too! But then after she shoos him off she attacks the vaccuum. I just kind of chocked it up to her being bossy and controlling, as she is the dominant dog...lol.
  7. I fixed both my dogs at 4 mos. They both mark. Poppy always lifts his leg. Pepper only sometimes.
  8. I got both my male and female done at 4 mos. Both seem fine to me. But be sure and check out the pros and cons before you decide.
  9. I'm so glad that you got it figured out and taken care of. *sending healing thoughts*
  10. Both my pups came to me 3yrs ago with worms too. I agree, it was the grossest thing to see, and the poor pups just felt wretched. It took a few days to clear up. But it did, and they were fine. It just took a little time and some meds. I hope your pup is soon on the mend and feeling better. Try not to worry, as it will (pardon the pun) pass...lol.
  11. Best solution is a Kiddie pool! Or a Lake: Or even a puddle:
  12. I know exactly just what you mean. Poppy and I are like that too. We talk to each other alot! Especially during hugs and petting sessions.
  13. Popcorn does that too, while rearing up like a horse, at the same time...lol.
  14. The Chuck it the best device for dogs ever made! And is also fits plastic balls. They even sell chuck balls in two packs at Petco especiallly made for it. I swear, it is a lifesaver. It will wear out ANY dog...lol. On my bad days I go out in the yard, have a seat and start throwing. It's great 'cuz they still get wore out...lol. I finally convinced my friend to get one for his overweight rott, and she is looking so good lately. Lost weight and is all muscle now!
  15. Wow! That is really scary!! *Sending healing vibes*
  16. It would be wonderful to see him eventually get a good home. I hope one of you is able to get him and help him.
  17. Hear! Hear! I know that I said, I wasn't going to say anything... but I will say however, that I raised two pups two weeks apart from puppyhood, 6wks and 8wks. Most everyone here was against it, since I was new to BC's. They advised me against it. But I did it anyhow. It was tough at times, and yet so rewarding at others. Housebreaking our female, Pepper took me a WHOLE year. Popcorn has several issues we are STILL working on. But though I often times wondered whether we were the right home for them both, we persevered and worked things out. My husband and I are both disabled. We live in a cramped 2 bedroom duplex. We don't have alot of money. But we make it work because we are commited to our furry kids. And we put them first. Hell they eat better then we do. They get the best food. All natural. No grains. At least an hour of exercise a day. Plenty of cuddling. Free run of the house. And they are perfect when left alone. A dog is only as trained as the time you take to teach him or her. It takes time, and effort and love to make a perfect companion. Dogs don't come trained. They bark, they howl, they mess in inappropraite places. They dig, they chew. And that's just the way it is. It is up to you, what you make, out of your relationship with your dog.
  18. Beautiful story. Gorgeous boy. Happy 1st Bday Zak!!
  19. Exactly. I'm too disgusted to write more. It wouldn't be heard anyways...
  20. Oh A.J. I'm so sorry. I understand perfectly what you mean. We are here if you ever need to talk. *sending hugs and healing vibes*
  21. I've heard that horses, birds and dogs do this to keep the bugs off. Don't know if it's true or not.
  22. That's true. I didn't think of it that way. I agree also. Very good point.
  23. It can take up to a month for the "smells" of "Availibility" to vanish after spaying. Also sometimes after spaying they can develope UTI's. I too would get her checked.
  24. Loose dogs are like flying cannon balls in an accident. They make seat belts that work great and are comfy for dogs. Also for those that are caught, $35 as a fine seems way too low to me. And it's often not our own driving we need to worry about. It's the other motorists. It's just not worth the risk. My dog's life aren't expendable so I like to use the seat belt.
