Yeah sounds like the instructor is a real moron with an over- inflated sense of self. You don't hit ANY dog. Especially Border's. They are so sensitive it could ruin them. I also say- Don't walk - but RUN away from that class and don't go back!

Yeah our little Pepp is a howler too. And taught Poppy too whenever we would leave the house. It is hard to break them of it.

Hi how is everyone? I know it has been awhile. We have moved (2.5 mos ago) to a really nice place. A townhouse,and I been weathering some sickness & seizures. But I am back now. How are you all? I have missed everyone. The dogs are so happy here. They get to swim in the river almost eveyrday. And run and play much more than at the old place. Best of all here, all our neighbors either have dogs or love them!! Will post pics soon!

I'm so glad to hear how well things have worked out for you all! I sure don't know what I would have done without this board either. especially in the beginning! Though I am guilty of lurking lately and not posting, I have learned and continue to learn so much from this board and all these wonderful people!

You should even be able to downsize the size of your photos on your camera too , before you even take the pic. Should save you time this way!

Lol... I just rim Poppy up real good under the tail and to the sides. Looks shorter but does the trick real well. Kills all odour. Especially with all this wet weather we have been having!

BC4ever- I too suffer from Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue, and depression. So I understand about skipping a day- or a few- of running dogs. It can be hard. And the guilt doesn't help. I know how the Dr's keep telling us to keep go, go, going through the pain and keep moving, and all, but how can we keep on going when the pain gets so bad?!? The more we do the longer we are "down for", so I definitely hear you. It can be rough! I hope that you are feeling relief soon from your Fibro flare up. *Sends healing thoughts and gentle hugs* P.S. My dogs often have to put up with a mellow form of catch inside while I lie on the sofa or fetching a 2 liter bottle and chewing it up for exercise!

Coming into this a bit late. But I have two 3 y/o BC's. No Fence. A SMALL yard and they get exercise everday because I MAKE the effort. Can you leash walk them a couple miles a day? Play ball with them on leash? Bike with them? (they sell bike attachments for dogs). Is dog day care an option? Can you fence in a smaller portion of your yard? Put up a run? Anything? If all this seems too much effort, then I agree with you, the dogs are better off rehomed. It all comes down to how bad you really want to keep them.

The way I look at it you are saving money by feeding better stuff. Tell him that he won't be laughing when the effects of feeding poor food catches up with him and his poor dog, and the vet bills hit....lol. I usually spend $50/mp on a 28 lb. bag of Natural Balance Lamb and Rice. Sometimes they get rawhide treats at a whopping $5 a bag..lol. But everything else they are allergic to!!
