  1. It's so good to hear your guys progress with your dogs. With the 20 total we had only 2 that are failing to connect. The ones that are in homes are doing great. The 7 that are still with us 1 needs a high energy home with lots of directions. She was wild from the start and she was way too much for an a pet adopter. 2 poss 4 are ready for special needs type adoptions they are needing understanding homes who will encourage them. They prefer to still be somewhat invisible if they can. The other 2 are different not willing to accept humans. 1 will tolerate it if you can catch him. The other takes 2 people to try to get him if get away in the large yard which is often and really doesnt care to be part of the dog pack. Routine is not for him. Does your guy stick his tounge out between his teeth? almost all our dogs do that. It's pretty endearing in a way. Originally I thought they had undershot jaws but, they dont.
  2. 2 thirds of ours are done already without an specific trauma. The red merle who is so frightened and is probably the dog in the crate in the new video I found was scared but, was greatful to come home. He recognized it as a safe place. I'm also interested in you saying kelso drinks normally to less. Our drink like they may never see water again. It's improving but, for the first few days it was incredible.
  3. I'm so sorry for your loss. You wrote a beautiful memorial for him.
  4. I was just watching Ramseys kitchen nightmares where the resturant was buying lamb at tesco and said that they injected it with something numbered that I didnt catch to preserve it. I would think a dog causing stress would be less than processing chemicals in the meats in affecting meat and taste.
  5. We still have Gypsy from the swafford raid and she is improving able to move forward and her anxiety circles are much bigger. Oringinally I coulndt figure out how she stayed up there were so small and fast. I've begun walking her off the property and I've taken her for car rides when the weather allows. My question is do i allow her to spin around me while we are walking? They are big cirlces and they arent problematic but, they are still her comfort circles. When cars came I put her in a stay. She was doing well with that but, she would make the big circles around me every once in a while while we were moving forward up the road. What would you do?
  6. I'm sorry but, I have to get on the no jack band wagon too. I had one I had to rehome due to many reasons one being she was female dog agressive. She had been spayed since the min I got her which should have been 6 months but, she has had real anxiety problems. She was good with kids though. My mom had a male who was voted most likely to be killed by another dog. He never backed down from a fight and loved the excitement of starting one. He reminded me of bevis of the bevis and butt head cartoon. He'd shake and almost vibrate over the excitement. He also had a number of Bites under his belt. (also Neutered from 5 month). I'm not saying you couldnt manage one but, there are so many other mixed puppies with wire hair available that would totally suit your family and meet the energy and nonshed factor. Our rescue always has tons of all sizes. My favorite dog of all time was a wire hair basset mix. He lives with a family locally and he is a total doll.
  7. I am sorry if I offended you in any way.

  8. Anda did people in a sense rescue by finding homes for the puppies born on the street to the street dogs? Or was it more common to purchase a pure bred dog?
  9. Anda I'm surprsed those dogs look so diverse. Ferral dogs in america seem to favor smooth coat. It makes me remember being a kid 30+ years ago when everyone dog walked around town and you knew the dogs names and petted them. You could tell when there was a dog in heat in town as one person hound walked miles to get there. He was always there too. "oh, look there goes mazurik's hound dog"lol
  10. This is one of the stories I found but, not the show. They showed where the kids were living, talked to the neighbors who might have seen the kids. This article says this boy was there since 3 months. I find that hard to imagine or believe but, a toddler I could see. http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/imported...m-13674973.html
  11. I watched a special on Tv but, it was the middle of the night most likely BBC I think, about the wild dogs taking in small children and keeping them alive and later using them to help gather food for the pack. They had 3 kids who were pulled back into society and the topic was discussing their lives with the pack and the rehabilitation since they only knew the dogs from a very young child. one was only a toddler.
  12. I'm going to guess the international border collie association. AKA MAH and her cronies. Esp with your location. He's a real cutie
  13. It's one of the reasons my husband gets so upset when we have puppies. You always have one complainer and once they can get out of the box or pen they tend to want to poop away. Meaning that you get 4 or 5 piles in the kitchen instead of the laundry room on the bedding. People told me that both of my litters were pretty trained when they went home. They were much better when I could run directly outside for them to potty.
  14. We had alot of trouble with dogs being allergic to a certain kind of glue. Once we stopped using Dr Bob in Montrose we haven't had a single problem. We were never able to get to the bottom of what he used that made them red and itchy. It gets better. We do 100's a year and I can only think of a handful of infections and the dogs were done in another state first.
  15. Thanks for the info. I hope things pick up for our larger food banks we are getting it in small amts and making it up in snacks. We got the rolls and such that can be fed straight as food. I just wish we could score a deal like a few years ago when Canidae was pushing lamb and rice it was 17 dollars a 40lb bag I bought everything they had in stock 5 times over. Our dogs look so much better even during the short time they are with us due to the good food switch.
