Laura, I am sorry that may be what is happening with your dog but it is always good to know what you are dealing with. My Jaff had the cowering type at first where he would duck his head while looking at the ceiling with a very concerned look in his eyes. It is funny how people try and rationalize a behavior that you know is simply not right. Once he started having Grand Mal seizures we knew that the cowering was focals and/or psychomotors. Once after a really bad cluster seizure Jaff spent the night sleeping and then running blindly from a dead sleep. He ran straight into the sliding glass door once. He tried to climb straight up a wall in the closet and he almost leapt over our balcony from the bedroom to the downstairs. My husband tackled him just before he got a front paw over the railing. It was a total nightmare. I am still very involved with the Canine Epilepsy Guardian Angels website that was my lifeline throughout his illness. Hey Becca, No, I got this ram from PA. If you are talking about the sheep I took home when I bought his old beat up horse trailer a.k.a The Mutton Express, they were wethers. This guy was just a year old in February. Easy keeper. If you are interested I could bring him to Debbies, looks like the clinic is on. Tina

Both my pups have had some diarrhea and over the weekend one got pretty bad and did have blood in the stool. I took fecals for both over on Monday. The worst pup showed negative for all parasites and the other showed positive for both rounds and coccidia. Of course I am sure they both have both and are treating as such. I have sheep so coccidia isn't a stretch. The worst of the two probably just didn't shed any eggs in that sample. If you are still concerned you may want to run a 2nd fecal. I also think by the time I took that pups sample in he had expelled everything possible and the blood was from an irritation inside. The bright red blood is better than seeing dark, older blood which is usually more serious. Good Luck and keep us posted. Tina

I am involved with a canine epilepsy group and we always suggest a homemade diet for the epis. Click on the link below and about half way down the page on the left is the Nutrition section. There are a few diets and a section on supplements. These diets have been well researched as our founder is a doctor in metabolic nutrition. Many of our dogs have been on them and do very well. One caution is that they usually have fewer calories and fat than kibble so you need to feed more, sometimes up to 50% more. Do you have tick bourne diseases in Wyoming? Almost sounds like symptoms of Lymes disease. We have it terrible in the northeast. Sometimes the dogs joints hurt really bad and they just whine and really don't like to be touched at all. Just a suggestion. Tina

Hi Shawna, Just read your post from yesterday right now. How old is Devin? The stroke like thing your vet was referring to is probably Geriatric Vestibular Disorder. It mimics a stroke and does resolve itself eventually but it is usually in older dogs. The urinary part isn't typical of it though except maybe they would lose control while having an episode of it. My Joe dog seems to be drinking and peeing more and it is worrying the heck out of me. I need to take him in soon for a urinalysis. Keep us posted. Tina
