  1. Well, I've been up for exactly 36 hours now. We made alot of progress together today, and I'm glad I stayed up, although I didn't feel that way 12 hours ago! DH and I went to the mall today to get her a new collar and a good chew toy. We left her and Odin together and they were fine. They are getting along so well, Odin whines when she's napping cause he wants her to wake up!! LOL! We also bought a BBQ today, and the four of us spent the evening BBQin in the back yard. Still now name yet, new ones keep popping in my head. DH really doesn't like Evenstar Tessa and Vixen have been added to our list of possibilities! So all in all, tiredness and doubts aside, today was a sucess. I'm happy. Now I'm going to bed. haha! Goodnight all!
  2. Well, I went with Thora because Thor was a red haired-red bearded dude, and my girl is reddish brown. Otherwise I'd rather Evenstar because of the LOTR connection, both DH and I play Lord of the Rings Online. I like the name Loki, but I know to many dogs with that name (no females though) Another norse name I like alot is Asdis, but I know DH won't like it. =/
  3. POLL CLOSED OUR GIRL'S NAME IS FLORA!
  4. The lump is very small compared to some I've seen, but then I'm not sure how old she is, so maybe that a big one for a pup her age.
  5. Well, this is no help cause she's not a BC, no clue what she is exactly (aside from Dog, that is) but everyone thinks our new puppy is a boy! She has such masculine features, everyone calls her "He".
  6. I demand pictures. If you don't post pictures, I'm sending this one after you: Ignore the gamer speak, I'm a nerd
  7. Thanks for the info. Called the vet a few minutes ago, can't get an appointment till the end of July!! I told the receptionist to call me asap if they get a cancellation.
  8. I know! I love her to bits, but the girl is downright evil lookin' sometimes!
  9. Yes, but if you mess up your kids and they turn out to be delinquents, they don't get put down!
  10. I know I should probbaly just relax, but it's hard! Part of the reason we decided to get a new pup is because I'm just so proud of Odin, and the feeling of accomplishment I have when I see how great he is, knowing that *I* helped him become the dog he is today . . . it's just amazing. Odin needs the company and I need the challenge - but it's SO DAUNTING!! There's this lil voice in the back of my mind that says I lucked out with Odin, it had nothing to do with the training I gave him, and it was foolish to get another pup because this one could turn out to be a disaster - all because of me! Arrrghh!!!! (I think this is the part where someone slaps me and yells "GET A HOLD OF YOURSELF WOMAN!!") I need sleep . . . but it ain't comin.
  11. I really want to go with Evenstar (Eve for short) but I don't think DH is going to go for it. I'm such a wimp, I let him get his way with naming Odin (I wanted to call him Bailey), and it looks like he's gonna win with this one, too
  12. Okay, yesterday it was all "look how cute she is". Well it's 8:19am the next day, I haven't slept yet, and cute is the last thing on my mind! LOL! Its been two years since I raised a puppy and I boy, did I ever forgot how hard it is! Holy crap! She really is a good girl though, don't get me wrong! She naps most of the time, whines now and then to be coddled but stops after a few seconds when she realizes it's not working. She lets me hold her for a bit, but still needs time to adjust. She tried chewing on my slippers a few times but responded well to a gentle "no" and went on happily playing with her toy when I replaced the slipper with it. She and Odin are still doing marvellously together! I couldn't ask for better! There is really nothing about her that I can complain about . . . except that she's a puppy and she's depriving me of sleep! LOL! She eats/drinks - I take her out. Back inside, she naps. She wakes up, eats/drinks - I take her out. Repeat about once an hour. When exactly do *I* get a nap? LOL! Bah, I'm just feeling very overwhelmed right now. I knew it would happen, of course. It's really stressful trying to remember all the right things to teach her, and making sure I don't do the wrong thing and mess her up for life. There are a few mistakes that I made with Odin that I'd rather not repeat. But no matter how much you prepare, it's still really tough! I'm so obsessed with not messing her up that I went and downloaded 7 ebooks on dog training, googled specific topics like mad and did several seaches of the boards And on top of that, there's that umbilical hernia to worry about! DH is sleeping right now and I know I have to head to bed soon, but I don't know if I'll be able to sleep. I might just wait till he wakes up and then go. I'm leaving him specific instructions to follow so he doesn't mess up her routine, I just hope he follows them. I don't want to have to kill him Anyway, I just had ot let that out. Don't mind me!
  13. Going to call the vet tomorrow. Nearest one is an hour away, I wish I could just drop in I hope it's not too serious.
  14. Yep. There are many, many people here who's dogs are not working dogs. My Odin's strickly a pet, and we've been around the boards for just 2 days shy of 2 years
  15. She has a small lump in her umbilical cord-area.
  16. Okay okay, I won't steal eowyn!!! I didn't really like her anyway, even IF her name is nice
  17. Oh and about the collar, she was wearing it when I got her and it didn't clue in at first, but then I was like . . . wth? and took it off, but it wasn't easy, let me tell you. It was way too small for her and DH had to use wire cutters to cut through one of the rings to remove it. I want to bitch that woman out so bad Anyway, on a lighter note: Here's an updated list of names: Celebrian Galadriel Bree Evenstar Eärwen (Sea-Maiden) Fëanor (Spirit of Fire) Nimrodel Morwen Roina (Red-Brown) Aranel (Princess) Bein (pretty) Vana (Beautiful, Fair) Vanya (Beautiful)
  18. I have no advice to offer, but I certainly can relate to this: she still sits there growling under her breath. And I can't get her to stop it! I grab her muzzle (lightly) and say firmly, "NO. STOP." every time she gives a "Grrrrr!" But she just keeps right on doing it. Odin does the same thing . . . barely audible, but he'll keep doing it. Drives me nuts, I'm glad it doesn't happen often!
  19. Okay, maybe she will be as bad as Odin! Chewing on Odin's tail . . .
  20. I really hope things keep going as well as they are now between the new pup and Odin. We researched how to introduce a new pup when we first decided to get another, so we were prepared, but I'm still a bit nervous. Odin sniffs her bootie alot, but when she gets annoyed with him she lets him know and he backs down. Right now she's chewing on a treat and he's just sitting there next to her, calm as can be. I think he's actually really excited to have her around and I think he was sad when she went for a nap under the dresser for a while earlier. Anyway, she's adorable. I just love her to death I just hope she's not as bad as Odin was as a puppy LOL!
  21. Welcome to the boards and Congrats on the new doggy! I just got a new one myself
