  1. Oh man, that's so sad Lin I'm going to go give my dogs a big hug now.
  2. Oh I don't think it's the same as intentionally breeding either!
  3. Nope, the OP didn't. Eileen suggested that it was "accidental". My personal opinion is that 'accident' isn't the right term and "negligence" is more fitting. But like I said before, that's jmo!
  4. Yes, I agree. I actually think negligence is more approprite than accident. But again! That's jmo . . . Maybe I'm weird, but to me there's just something icky about tacking the word "accident" onto a situation like this.
  5. I don't want to get into a huge conflict or anything but I don't agree that "accident" is an appropriate term here. An accident is generally an unforeseen and unintended event. This for me was a situation easily forseen. And if a person truly does not intend for something like this to happen, there are much more effective methods of prevention than the ones that were used in this situation.
  6. Uh oh . . . I guess I'm in the mob too? Who here has a farm? Maybe someone can donate pitchforks? (my attempt at humor, s orry if it's lame )
  7. I personally have a female puppy right now and you know what? As soon as she's old enough I'm running, no walking, to the vet to have her spayed. Why? Cause it's right thing to do? Absolutely. But also because I fear RDM may walk from BC to Newfoundland and pummel the stupidity out of me if that ever happened. lmao!! *pictures RDM putting on superhero suit with big R for rescue on it and heading out the door* "where ya goin RDM?" "Newfoundland. Some idiot let her puppy get pregnant." Ah, I kid, I kid! RDM, keep it up girl, keep it up. I love how you never back down. If you ever decide to teach a class on it, lemme know, I'll book the flight to BC
  8. That would be Odin He also makes that noise when he wants us to get out of bed in the morning. He jumps up on the bed, pokes up in the face with his nose and starts moaning and groaning.
  9. I think she's maybe getting on his last nerve! http://s52.photobucket.com/albums/g31/keem...nt=HPIM1279.flv
  10. Whenever he rolls in poo. Like today. And even then it's not really a full bath I usually just wash the smelly spot! Other than that, I leave him as is. The last time he had an actual bath was when he rolled in some kind of carcass on the beach last winter. Peee-Eww!
  11. Oh no! Poor Poppy!! I hope it's not anything too serious and that he'll be good as new in no time! Thoughts and prayers are with you *huggles*
  12. I'm so sorry . . . reading these posts always reminds me of Odin's (and now Flora's) own mortality . . . someday we'll all make a googbye post for our pups - it makes me so sad to even think about it. Parents always say they should never outlive thier children . . . I wish we didn't have to outlive our dogs Hugs from Newfoundland. Be strong.
  13. LOL! Pwnt by RDM! That was a lil mean, but mostly funny.
  14. Oh RDM, that is so sad I don't know how you do it, you're a must stronger person than I am Too many pups are bough cause they're cute and so many end up being given up on. Everytime I hear a story like that, I imagine the dog is Odin and I tear up every time
  15. Hi Ryan, welcome to the boards! Please review this very important documentation before making your decision! * * * * * * * I raised Odin from the age of 12 weeks. I love him, he's adorable, I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world! But he was a little devil!!! And he's only HALF BC! I adore border collies, but my next BC will most definitely be an older rescue, and that won't be 'for a while since we've just taken in a little mutt pup named Flora. She's a handful as well, but Odin was two hands full and two feet full! LOL!
  16. Thanks for the links SA! Those dogs really do look like her! Although now i"m a little nervous because people have been telling me she looks Beagle/Husky and apparently that's a bad thing! I'm getting scared! LOL!
  17. I said something like this in a thread just the other day, it's so true! Sharkie - I agree about the pictures thing. Whenever I need a pick me up, I always go to the BC Gallery. Another thing I love about this board is that you kinda feel like you get to know the dogs as well. It's especially great seeing them grow up via pics the owner posts You see the goofy things they do, the new tricks they've learned . . . it's nice
  18. OKay, I think I picked "Merits recognition" out of that . . . but that's about it. The only italian i know is lasagna.
  19. I don't wanna sound incredibly sappy here, but . . . I've been on these boards for 2 years now and I've recieved so much help from BCB members, many of whom I have tons of respect for. Who knows how Odin would have turned out without you guys to guide me? By teaching me so many thing, you've made one Border Collie's life wonderful . . . Seriously, every person who helped me learn something new about raising a BC deserves credit for the wonderful dog he is today. And even now, with Flora, even though she isn't even a BC! Everyone has been so helpful yet again, as always. The first night she was here, when I was so sleep deprived I couldn't think, and I was questioning myself - I knew instinctively where to go! You don't have to help people. But you do. And I know it must be so frustrating! So many times I've seen people spit in the faces of wonderful, caring people, when what they should be doing is soaking up all the good advice they can get and being grateful for recieving it. So yea, this is a thread of appreciation for people like RDM, who always tells it like it is and always has the best interest of the dogs at heart. I invite anyone who's recieved help from a BCB member to come here and let these great people know that their dedication is not all in vain
