I'm not familiar with Nancy's dogs, but I think you are right to follow your instincts and wait for the right dog. Remind me what kind of dog you are looking for and I can keep an eye out for you. Jenn

We went up to Franklinton and looked at two dogs that Nancy Solum is fostering. I think we could adopt Betsy. But she is 4. I was hoping for 6 months to 2 years. Know of any around here? I'd go to the pound - but I'd have to bring home every dog and cat - and rabbits and guinea pig and even snakes.

Fantastic. The first thing to do is go to our CBCR.org and fill out an application (the adoption application is for new fosters as well.).

We're definitely not ready to adopt another dog yet. But DH just said that if (when) you have a relatively young dog that is OK with cats and with older (9 and up) kids and who needs a temporary home, he might be willing to foster. We don't have a fenced yard, but we are willing to do lots of 1-mile walks around our neighborhood pond.

We've had no luck with the Hurley toy here. Chase loved his, but managed to chew off large pieces and then ingest them resulting in vomiting because he could not digest the pieces. He is not the most aggressive chewer. ( That is his in my profile. It didn't last the week) Jenn

Border Collie Rescue of Middle TN is not a legitimate rescue. It is run by a puppy mill owner. One of the worst there is.

Could your vet mix her up something with lidocaine to take before eating. Some sort of cocktail? I know that in the hospital, we often gave something similar to patients with severe reflux.

Becca, I sent you a pm and haven't heard back from you so I thought I'd trying bumping this thread in hopes that you will see this. Things are getting desperate for these two dogs and animal control is threatening to step in. I'm worried that they may very well be deemed unadoptable and put down if animal control gets their hands on them. I received an email yesterday that the person who has been caring for the dogs has tried to contact you but hasn't heard back from you. The dogs are willing going into a fenced yard to be fed so they can easily be trapped. It is just that the person who has been feeding them is afraid to handle them. If you can't make it out there, please let us know. Maybe someone else can step up and take them. Jenn -

If anyone knows someone who raises goats or has livestock that needs patroling. That's what these dog do. They don't herd, they protect herds from predators. They have been abadoned in King, NC by a previous goatherd. Hey Robin, Spread the news. Two female (not spayed) Maremma Sheepdogs left behind by someone who took their goats and moved. These are livestock dogs and have never been family pets. These dogs need sheep or goats to protect. Click the link to see what the breed looks like. I might even get someone to take pictures. They are located in King NC (Stokes Co) near the Southern States (LTD) feed store. .
