  1. My dogs are lucky-I live i the country in the midst of dry grass cattle land, so one does fireworks. If anyone were to set any off however, my dogs would be scared of the gun shot when we took out the firebugs! Carolyn
  2. Geri, Since it sounds as though the powers that be are determined to pass some sort of bill, I am curious how "they" will find "us" who have intact working stockdgs? Would it be through the dog's license record or do they expect the vets to police this? One does have to wonder what school of reason our politicians attended. Carolyn
  3. Anna, Nice to see your Tikkle looking so good after her ordeal. The more photos I see of her the more she reminds me of my Lyn. Especially the photo of her "climbing" up your leg for a pat! Actually I have a photo from last fall's Sheepdog Nat'ls with you, your set out dog, the sheep and Lyn in there, with Shasta in the backgound. Quite a nice photo. Carolyn
  4. Anna, Great news. Combination of good vet care, good owner, and obviously tough little dog worked. Carolyn
  5. Meant to say " outcome " on my post--sorry, sloppy typing.
  6. Anna, I sure am keeping Tikkle and you in my thoughts . I read a bit about this drug after your first post, and one of the things that can happen ( the info I read was all dealing with humans getting this drug) is a potential crossing of the blood brain barrier. having had a drug that did that to a border collie years ago, causing temporary blindness and ataxia, I wonder if there is not also some contributing symptoms caused by this drug, in addition to her cardiac arrest. I wish you both the best outime.
  7. She sure looks like a border collie to me. I can't access video on my computer so cant see her there, but the photos look like several border collies I have seen. I guess if she were put on stock maybe it could be easier to tell. Anyway, she is very attractive.
  8. I heard he was just in Petaluma, CA for a clinic last week or so. Still a long way from your location, even if it is in the same state!
  9. What happened was, Suzy placed 7th and then went on to win Diaz. So Geri, after placing 7th at Diaz can--dog willing and the creek don't rise--reasonably expect to win her next trial. Makes sense to me. Chris O Chris, I think you have a good point there. As a novice I am sure my assessments might be wrong much of the time, but it seems to me when I watch these tough Open trials that it is possible for anyone of many to jump up and win it. So many good handlers and so much luck of the draw , and it seems that out there the action changes quickly. I would guess that's one resaon it is so appealing to so many! For me , being in an Open trial is still a long off dream.
  10. What happened was, Suzy placed 7th and then went on to win Diaz. So Geri, after placing 7th at Diaz can--dog willing and the creek don't rise--reasonably expect to win her next trial. Makes sense to me. Chris O I see. Actually Suzy won the first day at Zamora with Hap and was 7th with him the second section of the trial, winning the overall with him. The dog she was 2nd with at Diaz is Will. I try to watch them when I can because my dog is by Hap and also a 1/2 sister to Will ( same dam). Both Hap and Will are really nice dogs.
  11. Lark is striking though all her stages of growth. I am envious that your pup has prick ears. I had hoped my Lyn would have them, as her dam did, but it was not to be. Lark is a beautiful tri. And I wouldn't "worry" about her size. Lyn was 3 years old last September and was then and is now 28 #. She held her own at the Nursery Finals last fall so the sheep must have thought she was big enough! Happy birthday Lark.
  12. << In the 22" USDAA Grand Prix this year {cream of the crop, fractions of seconds} the top 3 dogs were all sports-bred dogs {Comebye and Hob Nob}. Admittedly do not much at all about agility of any kind , but I believe I know the Hob Nob dog who did well at thie USDAA event. Just wanted to say that if I am correct on my friend's dog being the the dam of this agility dog that I know the dam has Hob Nob in her reg name. The dam is owned by a friend of mine and that dam is ISDS bred on at least one side of her pedigree. In fact has similar breeding to my ISDS Nursery dog from this year. I have seen a copy of the dam's papers, but not recently enough to want to quote exact names from her pedigree. If this is the agility dog you are refering to, her dam also qualified and competed at this year's USBCHA National Finals this year. She has been doing very well on the West Coast for some time in the USBCHA Open trials. I suspect she is in the minority of AKC registered dogs to do so though, but her pedigree is pretty darn "sheepdog " bred for a show dog!
  13. Alicia, I never weighed by female border collie as she was growing up, but at 3 years of age she is 28 #. Her dam is 30# , her sire about 45#. Lyn's size has not seemed to hurt her anyhttp://fieldandfarmphoto.com/USBCHA%20NurseryPrelim%20Wed/ Don't know if this link works or not, but here are some photos of Lyn at work.
  14. Here is a link to website for Skidboot. And some time ago it was asked of David's wife if they raised dogs and the answer was no. www.southernhartranch.com
  15. I can't watch the video clip on my computer ( too far out in the country with bad phone lines, I think), but I do know "Mrs. Skidboot", Barbara, from my reining horse list. Her husband is a horseshoer ( don't know if they said that on the video) and both he , his wife, and Skidboot are the real deal. Just nice down to earth folks who like their horses and dogs. He definately seems to have a knack for training dogs, and horses for that matter, and obviously has a wonderful bond with Skidboot.
  16. Geri, Just got home from the Nationals and I want to say huge THANK YOU to you, Amy, and each and everyone connected with this year's Finals. It was a thrill, if only as a Nursery entrant owner, to be a part of this wonderful trial. You wore that smile all week as you worked from dawn to dusk to tackle what seemed every small detail. My hat's off to you all.
  17. <<<<<,I do remember the Carter era gas lines and shortages >>>>>> I remember the gas lines, but at least in CA those lines were in 1973 on for a time, not late 1960's. I remember the date because I had a brand new 1973 Ford pick up and I bought aa locking gas cap for it, just in case.
  18. Hi Geri, Can you tell me , will there be either /or a photographer or video person at the Finals who will be selling their work? Thanks.
