  1. Ethel. Who knows why, I just see Ethel. Eva, Eve. Dee? Can't wait to hear what you name her!!!
  2. And see, I look at it the other way, make them buddies. If you go for walks, walk them together. Get two tennis balls and play ball together. ( hold puppy's collar so he doesn' t get mowed down, and so he can't pester Brody) Show him the fun still happens with the puppy there. Keeping them playing seperate is not going to help them bond. The puppy is there, he needs to deal with it, not avoid it. Play is a social skill they both need to learn. You don' t want to deal with the same problem with the puppy as you are having with Brody. And don't be afraid to let Brody correct the puppy either. Be careful and good luck.
  3. Good story. Very enjoyable read! Hope all goes well with the pipe! Sounds like Vala is doing great! Glad she is feeling better.
  4. Of course to each their own. My mom lets her JRT sit in her lap while she eats, I can't stand it! You have a good thing going with the dog NOT begging. I just don't think I would ruin it. It is almost like saying, "excuse me, I do have food up here and you are welcome to it". I would think eventually maybe you would end up with a begging dog. I would leave well enough alone and not encourage the dog to be interested in table food.
  5. Well good for you for taking her in! Love the name Ivy. Think it is very cute due to the clingy analogy. Or you could name her Vela--short for velcro dog. Jewel-just love the name Pace--as in set the pace. I would think Pacey would come of that. Swoop Swish Una--#1 Era hmmm,, girls seem tough to name for me! Have tons of boy names!
  6. (***I didn't read anything but the first few posts***) Am very glad those people were atleast smart enough to keep your info and actually use it. Good luck to you and the dog.
  7. Beautiful dogs! Could you imagine being the rabbit that gets chased by a whippet/hound! lol Turbo hound!
  8. DITTO! My 2yr old child stands on the coffee table and does the hula. Children shouldn't stand on tables, but God almighty, it makes me laugh every single time! Personality. Embrace it. How boring if everyone followed the rules all the time. One behavior does not mean it will be an every day thing. Enjoy your puppy. Let it play, explore and grow. Good luck.
  9. also, ditto Disclaimer, I also was unable to view the video.
  10. I am not understanding why if the guy came here to advertise the dog, and then came back to give me more info, you guys don't think it is ok to post on the thread! That is the dumbest thing I have heard! No one asked him to "haunt" the boards, just check the thread he started. That only makes sense. Sue--yes I emailed him today and hope to hear back from him. No, after this uproar, what ever he emails me back I will keep private. Because apparently giving away a dog has to be done totally in private.
  11. I think this has gotten way way away from the point. Fellow board member states they have a dog to rehome. I view the pic, see that she is bagged up, and ask if she is preg. or just had pups. ANYONE who posts on this forum that they have a dog to rehome is going to be asked some questions. Why wouldn't I ask questions? Being directed to a link that only says she isn't working out, does not answer the question. I don't want to take a preg. bitch. And yes, I would rather get a dog from "fellow dog lovers". I droll over the reds, someone offers up a red that they know a background on, I am going to inquire. My mom lives about 60 miles from him, sorry some of you find it rediculous to consider her. If Solo were offered, I WOULD DRIVE TO ALASKA to get that dog. Why some of you are acting like it is a sin to ask about a dog I am not sure. I would openly discuss any dog I was rehoming on this board. Why not?
  12. And yes, I was, and am really interested in her. My mom lives in Idaho, and it wouldn't be anything to send the dog there until I head that way next month.
  13. Because he posted it in a public forum. If he didn't want to discuss it, he could have emailed me.
  14. Do a bit better at what? Why would I get a ranch and what would I show you? If you would stop doing rescue over someone asking if the dog has had a litter you shouldn't be in rescue!
  15. I see your point Karen, but if he can come on and post the link a second time, I don't know why he could just jot down an answer. The link wasn't any help. If he had just said her name is Rose/Rosie/Rosa, click the link, I would have done a bit better. Instead I can't figure out who's who. Still not too sure. If you are trying to rehome a dog, it is best not to ask potential adopters to do all the work. You are telling ME to stop what I am doing and email HIM about the dog. Maybe after he saw I was inquiring he could have gone out of his way to drop ME an email, after all I am looking to take the dog off of his hands and do him a favor.
  16. I certainly do not have anything against Eric. I asked for some info about a dog he was placing, and instead I am direct to an area that does everything but answer the simple question. Why is it a hard question? As I look further, I notice listings of puppies, both reg. and non reg. Were are "free dog's" puppies? Then to look further and see where littermates are advertised (don't remember if for sale, or just info) and one is listed purebred, while the other is listed as a cross. If they are littermates, they are both crosses. Read the link where you are able to get to know his herders. It just doesn't sound very nice the way he puts it. As I said, I have nothing against him. I know he must have hard working dogs, that is why I was inquiring about the one he was rehoming. Maybe she just doesn't like to work in that situation and could be useful to someone else on a smaller scale. If I had anything against him I would not say I would like to come meet him and check the operation out.
  17. Can I just say one more thing....I realized my last night's post sounded a little judgemental. I felt a little bad for that. So this a.m. I looked a little further into your site and marveled at the operation you have going on. That level of sheep production and lifestyle is something I am totally clueless to. HOWEVER, I noticed some interesting things. I know your dogs are important to you, and so is money. (as with all of us) But you can't fudge your dogs to suit the situation. You have to call a spade a spade. Proper pups with proper moms. Litter mates are all the same btw. I am red headed, my sister is blond. It doesn't make me pure Irish and her Irish/Polish. We are what we are, not what someone wants us to be. Get what I am driving at there? Also stop talking about your herders as if you are in the slave trade. You couldn't do what you do without them. Be thankful. Again, interesting, if I ever find myself in your neck of the woods I am coming to lamb school!
  18. Ok, I am not jumping through a flaming hoop. Simple answer. Am now guessing she got bred at your place, and you aren't real keen to say. If you have had her a few months, and she is only 8months old, and baggy, ummm let's see Gee I guess I answered my own question there didn't I. Good luck finding her a home. edited after original post for being far to cranky. BTW, your son is lovely. And love the picture of "what the coyotes see" beautiful.
  19. Am I missing something? I don't see that it answered my question unless her name is Rosie.
  20. Is she preg. or just have a litter? Had trouble navigating the site and finding info
