  1. it could have been someone who's coffee got spilt every morning by the tail swipe. lol good thing i love those white tails too.
  2. It really takes all kinds to make this world go around. Unfortunately lately our world seems off kilter. I wonder why?
  3. I have a cone on her!!!! Thanks for the advice about other collars. That No bite collar looks great. I am calling the vet in the morning. It has really opened up. It is superficial thank God but I think we need to have it checked. I did figure out how she was managing to lick this wound. She (the smart devil she is) has figured out that if she swings her head enough the cone twist so that where the two side join there is a slit. she somehow gets her tongue between the slats and has actually opened up the cone. Now how smart is that! Of course the t shirt only gave a min amount of protection after she figured out how to get around the cone. Oh well wish me luck tomorrow. This little walk is sure going to be expensive. Poor kink, I really think this still hurts her too, the minute I start investigating the wound she starts to tremble. Well thanks again for the advice
  4. I took my border collie girl for a walk through the woods last Sat and she verred off a little but not out of eye sight. She got a little behind me ( a completely new thing). As a silly owner I thought I had tired her out (It would have been a first) but no she had somehow cut herself. She had a laceration from mid rib cage to her belly. It was Sat, the local vet was closed, we rushed her to the emergency vet which is 80 min away. They put her to sleep, sewed her all back up ( she has about a 10 inch incision) and kept her until Tues. She came home with only a cone on her head. I of course covered the wound with an ace wrap (to keep my other dog from licking her). The first night went fine. The next day she got the ace wrap off (with the cone still on) and managed to open up the incision. I being a nurse had some steristrips and pulled the place she opened, back together. then wrapped the wound back up, put a t shirt on her and left the cone in place. She has managed to keep that wound opened by licking it. She still is on antibiotics. HOw do you keep a determined dog from licking the incision. If she licks any more she will have opened up so much that all the remaining stitches are going to pop. I am frustrated. Once again she is outsmarting me. lol Any advice would be appreciated
  5. I have a 2 year old female border collie who was house trained since she was 12 weeks (only had one accident during training) who is now peeing in the house. I can't figure this out. I am thinking maybe a uti? How do you obtain a urine sampe to take to the vet or do they obtain the sample? If it is not a UTI does anyone have any suggestions. I have never been able to catch her, each time she pees I clean with chloro 2. 9 times out of 10 she pees in the basement so I have now made this off limits to her. The only thing that has changed is my mother has been staying with us and sleeps in the basement. Is this Kinko's dominance coming out? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  6. No she only freaks when you are hanging out clothes or taking them in. Good thought though
  7. My 2 year old female bc suddenly has become obsessed with the clothes line pole, when I am hanging out clothes. This really concerns me because she cries/whines as she is trying to bite the metal pole. I don't understand what brought this behavior on nor what she thinks it accomplishes. Any thoughts? I have made sure she is in the house now or have the kids distract her with frisbee and both of these have worked.
  8. just an update, the ignoring her worked great. I came upstairs and peeked in the closet. gave her crate command and off she went. Thanks for the advice.
  9. I also have read not baby her. I thought bribing her would allow me to go to bed though. lol The storm is basically over. Hopefully she will come out on her own shortly. I have been ignoring her. I am downstairs without her which must be just about killing her lol
  10. I love these stories because it reminds me of my two. Kinko is dominant over bruiser but he sure has figured out how to manipulate her. When she has the raw hide he will go whine at the door (appearing to have to go and Pee) As soon as I open the door of course he hangs back and Kinko bolts out the door. He stays in and gets the treat. This is so funny to watch. Kinko I notice manipulates him as well. If he has the chewey she will come over to me and want to be petted ( she really is not affectionate by nature but Bruiser is) Bruiser sees her getting pettted, runs over to get some of the loving too and Kinko gets the chewy. I love these dogs.
  11. We suddenly had a thunder and lightning storm tonight that really freaked out my kinko and now she has hidden herself in a closet and won't come out for even cheese or her ball. (I have never seen this not work for her) Anyways I don't want to force her out, I don't want her to think that if she hides she won't have to sleep in her crate, and I am thinking that she will chew up everything in there because she is stressed. Does anyone have any good ideas?
  12. Sounds like a great tool. Do you remember where you got it from?
  13. What is , or how do you, strip their undercoats?
  14. I completely understand how you feel when one of our pets is not feeling well. Waiting is definitely the hard part. I hope your pup is feeling better soon.
  15. not to hi jack this post but just how big can a male get? I am getting a little worried about my male. He is now just a hair shorter than my female who is maybe 18-20" and weighs 39lbs. This pup is only 15 wks. I'm really hoping he is not going to grow into his name. lol of Bruiser. I figured he would be about 50-55lbs full grown. Can some really get bigger than this? Not that I would love him any less of course just curious
