  1. We always use the standard "Disc Dog" frisbees. They are hard plastic and white. We go through them quickly because my dog loves to bite them. We attend those events sometimes just soley to buy the frisbees they have for sale .
  2. Everyone has to deal with family like this, it's part of it, just try to make it as pleasant as you can. If that means putting your dogs somewhere where they don't scare guests (such as outside), then do so for the day . In the long run, the time you have to see and deal with her is not very significant, and this isn't too big of a request to accomodate. Lunar, my understand is that putting the dogs outside is an option, that was agreed to by the sister in law as a (compromise)? Am I incorrect in this assumption? If putting the dogs outside is not a viable agreement (or designated to one room or area of the house), then I suppose it would be a much bigger request.
  3. It's not going to hurt anything, to keep the dogs out for the time that your sister in law is there. People are overreacting; I'm sure it was mentioned in a polite and nice way, not demanding or rudely. It's a nice gesture for you to oblige this favor, why not? It doesn't hurt the dogs to put them outside for a day, (or part of a day).
  4. The other day I walked into a Petland in a mall, here in Oceanside. I went to the mall to find a birthday present for my friend, and saw the petstore, thought I'd stop in (hadn't been to one in a long time). I saw all the dogs there (must have been 30 or 40), and it made me ILL. Literally ill, physically. The conditions there are soooo pitiful, and the dogs are going absoultely CRAZY. Every dog there is neurotic, and it was the worst I've ever seen. I had to immediately leave, I left the mall without getting anything, and I was honestly sick to my stomach. What a horrible thing, I will NEVER go into a petstore like that again . So bad .
  5. I do the same thing with Aronomy, my dog, and now whenever he sees a dog approaching, he automatically lays down. It's great, although I find he stares them down a bit, which might be taken as threatening by other dogs, I don't know. But nothing bad has ever happened between my dog and other dogs.
  6. My dog is so ball/frisbee crazy, that he wont let kids pet him, will just drop the ball by their feet, run away, pick up and drop If I call him over for the kids to pet in a down...he gets up within a few seconds and stares at the ball. But other situations have made him snap, any cornering involved, and I think it's only natural for the dog to do something more drastic to change the situation (if you don't). Anyway, it looks like this won't happen again because you understand what you did wrong
  7. Yeah, sometimes it just doesn't load, so I have to come back another time.
  8. This thread was inspired by the "Sydney/Bingo" thread, as I read it as Sydney/Dingo, and it reminded me of what happened the other day while I was exercising Aronomy at the park the other day. So anyway, a couple days ago, I was throwing the frisbee for Aronomy at the park, and as usual he drew a crowd of onlookers. A group of 3 or so kids, that looked like they were siblings, came up to ask if they could pet my dog. I said they should wait till he came back and I made him lay down, and they did. They didn't have any parents around, as far as I could tell, but Aronomy loves kids, so he was ok. Well, soon their father comes up, and he says...."Say, is that a Dingo?" I was laughing soooo hard inside, espeically with the all the jokes (Dingo ate my baby). I said "What?" And he asked again..I couldn't believe he had asked what he did . I politely said, no, he's a border collie as he was petting Aronomy. He said..oh, beautiful dog, etc. Haha, so what are the strangest guesses you've heard as to what breed of dog you have?
  9. Aronomy learned shake the way Rising River described, it makes the most sense and is straight forward, your dog should get it if you keep at it .
  10. My BC seems to like other BC's more than any other breed, as if he is above those "other" dogs.
  11. I love Milan, particularly his use of his hand as a mouth, to simulate a bite. He explained that the thumb should be used as the canine tooth, to really get the message through, I think it's brilliant. Also, a funny moment in one episode, he was doing an impression of the dog, calling Milan on the phone saying "Help, my people are treating me like a human." Everything he says makes sense, and he gets good results. Much better than "Good Dog U" which I watched a lot when I was younger on Animal Planet.
  12. Yep, our dog has a minor bump, still noticeable. We call it his "crazy bump". He goes crazy with certain activities, such as swimming in our pool. He paces and barks at us while we're swimming.
