  1. I know of many good open dogs and a few that were North American Finals winners that were raised and/or are kept in the house.
  2. Hey Fosher, Are you going to let her get away with that statement? Not only has she called you "minor league" but she is now has the unmitigated gall to defame our country. Go get em, Bill. (To the rest of the list, if they are reading this dribble) This inciting behind the scenes is rather fun. I think that I may have found a niche in life. Can't wait until I come out of this all sweet, clean and innocent looking and Bill and Andrea start throwing tomatoes (or many syllable words) at each other. P.S. And not many Candian government employees apparently know how to write a cheque. They said it. I did not.
  3. Welcome to the boards. There is nothing wrong with a blue eye and a brown eye. It is not something that a breeder of border collies would favor. The reason has nothing to do with the eyes. The only criteria for breeding a border collie (and the only the only reason that you should breed one) is great livestock working ability. No one cares what the border collie looks like....just how well it works. If you are not going to work your dog on livestock and she will just be a pet, used in agility, etc. than spaying her would make it much easier for you and her. Again, I am not talking what some folks term as "instinct" but proven working ability. Just enjoy your dog. You really don't need to be a dog multiplier. Between you and me, you really won't make any money on the puppies by the time that you get eyes, hips, etc. checked, puppy shots, pay registrations fees, pay a stud fee and on and on. Also, people that are looking for a working dog will purchase a puppy from well-known breeders who have proven the working ability of their dogs either on a trial field or sometimes in a working ranch situation. Please don't take this the wrong way. Just enjoy your dog.
  4. A., It looks like you have a fellow obsure word fanatic. Or a fellow fanatic. Do you think that you have met your match with Bill? In the war with words, can I be the judge or the referee? The rest of us will use this as a way of enriching our limited vocabularies.
  5. Sheri is not here yet. She had to go waaaay out of her way to Pet Supplies for a friend of hers. Yes, I got her directions. I just hope that I got all my lefts and rights .............right. By the way, if you would have listened to my UFO problem instead of rolling over and going back to sleep, you would have known that I had no choice but to move the RV. The UFO was blocking my door so that I could not get it open to allow the dogs to go out and potty. You can call us later tonight.
  6. I have spent the greater part of the day picking up puppy doo doo. Wouldn't you just know it, after one night Sheri's pup now potties outside. My just potties on MY blanky. God, I can really pick em.
  7. Sam, You can start on A's posts if you are picking up doo doo. They are as full of s#%* as she is.
  8. Since when is a solicitor.......one who solicits....more dignified? I have heard that "ladies" in the States can go to jail for soliciting. If you get thrown in jail in the States when you tell everyone that you are soliciting, I will bail you out in the morning after my leisurely breakfast. As I recall, in the dark of the night when the UFO landed on my RV, you didn't run to my aid....au contraire.
  9. A., Is that attorney talk? I must remind you that on our spring fling, you must not talk like that in the presence of my new puppy. You can still use that profanity around the older dogs. Pip will blow you off and believe me, she is experienced. Bracken won't hear you. Tweed will not think that it applies to him. Beau will jump on your back. Merc will go and piss. Sam, for a small fee A. will send you a "new word each the day" and even use it in a sentence. She is better than the silly Reader's Digest multiple choice word power quiz. She really does have more than a two word vocabulary.....not many people realize this because they have only heard her use two words for weeks at a time.
  10. Thank you for sharing (and spending the time copying) this information with us, although why you chose to do it is beyond my comprehension. Were you bored? Did you think that we needed an extra copy? Did you just feel like being a busy bee and typing? The response to this information has been overwhelming as you can see. I certainly hope that you make it through the long snowy and cold Canadian winter and can keep your sanity....although I am beginning to have my doubts. I don't have time for such mundane things as I am busy preparing for a Martha Stewart Christmas. I am still debating whether the dogs should wear little antlers or Santa hats for the occasion. Both costumes seem to me to be a bit overdone lately.
  11. Denise, Arrogant is never an adjective that I could associate with you. As usual, you are "right on" but not "self righteous. By the way, thanks for the iespell information, without it I would never have spelled righteous correctly.
  12. Sam, You'll have a great trial cause I know that you are the hostess with the mostest......the mostest ability to have fun. I miss you all. (Practicing my southern drawl for the next time that I get down) A. and I will be there next year.....no excuses. I missed seeing Tommy on Dave Letterman. Hope someone taped it for me. When I come down, I will gladly critique his penning skills free gratis. Since I did it for Johnny, I owe it to Tommy. (This critique would need more than a glass of whine.)
  13. I have to agree with Andrea; that is very great advice. I have seen the long pvc pole at the homes of many handlers that I respect and now I know at least one of the reasons why they use it.
  14. I will second what Andrea said. Congrats. (That is redundant)
  15. I am finally back on boards after a couple weeks of not being able to access them due to my infamous computer dis-ability. Had to even re-register but I am StillTerry. Thank you all for your support of Tweed who was a very Baad Dog on his second run. Listening was not in his game plan. Although there were spots in the field where the dogs could not hear, he was not always in those spots. On the positive side, he had no problem moving the ornery sheep. He is a real line dog, however, that day the line he chose to hold to China was not the right line. He ended up 28th over all. Yes Bill, you will see Tweed running in open but there will not be any great placings. I will be at the helm with him. On the bright side, if he holds the wrong line, I won't get nearly as upset as Lyle. Her line may be an 1 inch wide but mine is at least 60 inches wide. Andrea, really was a tad strong calling my dogs Disney dogs. (Personally, I think she is a little jealous cause she has to spend her time looking at a cute muskrat.) Because it is true that I have a high concentration of handsome full white collared dogs, it really embarresses me. Always afraid people will think that their looks are important to me and not their working ability. Don't want anyone to think that I own foo foos. To set the record straight, all my dogs except one were purchased or selected sight unseen! Believe me, looks could not even be comsidered as a remote criteria for my big hat friends as they searched for dogs for me. It was hard enough to find a dog that could withstand my numerous idiosynracies. (Next time, I get a dog I will add spelling ability in the pre-requisites.)
