  1. Dear Melanie, Haven't been around much lately but wanted to wish the big guy a belated Happy Birthday when I checked in today. It is wonderful to see him looking so happy on his birthday. You have such a great way of sharing him with us, I have loved your Red dog stories for years. Here's to many many more!!!!
  2. I ovisously picked a good time to be on vacation that being said I have to concur about the amazing dedication you give the boards. Just a personl thank you as well.
  3. Eileen & Denise Thanks for posting the videos, I have been able to understand better whats going on. I still don't understand all of it, but it's filtering through. posts like this make me remember why I got a BC in the first place. Thanks for promoting what they are bred for, and for sharing all the beautiful dogs working.
  4. I just added a room on to my house for the dogs, 25 x 30, with a comphy loft and stairs to run up and down. My friends didn't believe me and scoffed. They are not being invited back, I don't really talk to non animal people if I don't have to. It takes to much time cutting through the layers of, huh, why, you did what? I have made an exception for my mom. She gave birth to me, she is elderly, she doesn't know I'm a changeling. Andrea D. There is NOTHING wrong with me or any of the rest of you
  5. I like Flora, It's a sweet name, one that if she lives up to, won't be to bad Andrea D.
  6. Welcome to the boards! He has such a nice sweet face, he's lucky to have found his forever home with you. I concur with the others, my BCs range from 30 to 45 lbs. So he could be right on target. I have found that some, mind you not all BCs seem to have a slighter frame than some of the mixes that are hard to tell apart. If he has stocky bones he may be mixed. But then some one will post with a small tank like BC and they theory will be shot down What ever he is he is beautiful and very lucky. Andrea D.
  7. I read about Woos commercial fame in on your blog, it made my day. I especially liked his Tail Woo Hooo Hooo But let's not malign Tweed here for lack of appeal. I think it is pure prejudice on that woman's part! You may have noticed Tweed is Black & White, every one else is red. I know this comes as a shock to every one. But Tweed is not the SAME as Red Dog and Woo. I know know this is a stunner. But that woman obviously has something against B&W animals. Start a campaign, call the ACLU or is that ACCLU ( American canine civil liberties union) This kind of discrimination must be stopped. Tweed must be avenged! Andrea D
  8. I have three AVIDS and one Home again, I get them provided through my work, and this year they changed to HA. As a group we have had lots of little problems that have been cropping up. Mostly they call about five times a week to update infomaton and it never seems to be right. We do tons of dogs and this seems to be a chronic issue. But I have never lost a dog, & never found one WITH a Micro Chip in it, so this may be a mute point LOL. AD.
  9. What a cutie, if you go for Nazgul, you might as well name her Wraith I like Wee Bonnie Bree, or what about Goldberry or mrs. Bombadil, excuse the spellings. what ever her name she is adorable Andrea D.
  10. Oh big sigh of pleasure for you, here! Glad to hear Cord is back, the little begger. Was he camping out in the errr ummm bovine composet area ??? In any case it's good he's home and smelling fresh as a daisy for now LOL. Andrea D.
  11. Rebecca, Just wanted to offer my regrets and regards in reference to Cord. I know I have mentioned this in other posts. But my beloved Emmette levetated him self out of our yard during severe weather. Much like Cord and the thunder in Cords previous walk about. He was gone 10 1/2 days before I found him five miles away digging in a farmers trash. Before that he had gotten out of a friends yard and ran the Hollywood hills for two weeks. His last escape was when an animal hospital where he was being borded let him loose and he shot out the door to an UNfenced walking area. He crossed Highway 70 and I found him two days later duing a thunderstorm trotting out side the cemetary several miles away. The point of me telling you this is to give you hope that Cord will in all likley hood be back, hopefully soon . After being gone once and coming back, the odds are better after that. I pray that this will happen and that you can hold him and gently scold him for worrying you so. I'm praying for blessings and protection for you and for Cord. andrea d.
  12. Welcome, Your going go have fun with Mac! Andrea D.
  13. nice pictures, isn't it nice to finaly have a digital camera. I don't have one so I know what you meant about posting with out good digital picture. Bandit sure is a cutie. Andrea D.
  14. What a cutie he is. Be careful if you don't find his owners. I found a peke in my driveway a year ago. Did I mention a year ago. She is still with me, she wasn't chipped of course, but she was groomed and very well taken care of. Soooo I know your intentions are pure, but beware Andrea D.
  15. Rebecca what a wonderful tribute to Ben! May he reign supreme through meatloaf and all the oraganic chile he can handle. Oh and be careful flossing the feathers out of your teeth. We all have to sucumb some time Andrea D.
  16. I built a new addition to my house. Well I say it's for me but really it's for the animals . It's large and comphy, doubles the size of the old part. Ok so that was only 900 or so aq feet Any way the cats can move around, run play and do what ever they want to do . But I do have the new space for the dogs too, all for the same reasons.Plus they have their own doggie condo that they don't share with any one. I installed a shiney brand new baby gate in between the dining area and the new addition . The cats have several places they can acess, to stay out of the way. I like to save the dogs eyes too. Accidents can happen and my cats aren't declawed. I have never had a problem but I'm realistic enough to know it could. The only problem with all of this is my problem cat Finnigan. He has been looking for his very own dog since Emmette died. No one is taking him up on the offer of undying devotion, and constant admiration. I thought the Peke may qualify, but he's bigger than she is, and scares her. He loves the dogs and it takes quite a bit to have him leave them alone. Ahh the joys of interspecies living. RDM, my older cat takes full advantage of the baby gate and is much happier with a place that she at 16 doesn't have to put up with the dogs bugging her. The room where I feed them is closed off to just a cat sized opening. She goes in there alot of the time. I would be less than impressed too, if I found chunks of hair off one of the cats. I can see how it might happen, but still its' not comforting to find. Andrea D
  17. Julie I'm with you, don't want to be a wet blanket but dogs and cats are a sensitive issue with me. I have spent the last 6 years telling Kai that the cats do NOT need his help in deciding where they want to go. My Gabby I THINK may have killed a kitten several years ago. At least she had it limp in her mouth when I found her So they can and possibley do damage to a cat if even if accidental. My dogs seem to love the cats and seem to get along with them well. The cats hold thier own and aren't scared of the dogs. Yet I don't leave Kai or Gabby alone with them. I don't want to take chances that some sort of tragdey could happen. With Abra and the Greyhound I never worry. Well not about the cats, trash, the odd shoe maybe. But they wouldn't hurt the cats. I have found the Leave it command and, you go out if you pay to close attention to the cats, is the way that has worked for me with Kai. Also giving him other things to focus on has worked well. Toys and balls do nothing he isn't interested. Chews, and puzzle balls with food work. If you want to borrow Kai for Maggie I bet she stops paying attention to the tree pretty fast Andrea D.
  18. Oh I agree with every one else, a house if remotly liveable is nothing compared to the out buildings and the wonderful property. Believe me I lived in a sturdy but very small( appx 900 sq ft) house until I could add on to it. It is on a crawl space and the foundation seemed non existant, but it turned out to be ok. Also I had friends that had a house jacked up and a foundation and even a basement added to it. That turned out to be cheaper than building a new house. That's a fairly extreme case, but it worked for them. Andrea D.
  19. A Bump up for Cheri, she should be out of surgery by now. Hope your doing well, remember the walking Oh and here is a hug for all the doggies, I bet there going to be atuned to all that's going on, and it may "worry" them. You can get all the pointers from ms Briar on how to milk it for all it's worth God Bless Cheri, get to feeling better soon!!! Andrea D.
  20. I had a message on my calandar on the computer and I think I set it a day early But we can keep this bumped so we will be on target for tomorrow I guess better early than to latLOL. Cheri if you have time to check in and see, were thinking about You!!!!! Andrea D.
  21. I think she's having surgery today and wanted to remind every one to send good thoughts and prayers her way. Andrea D.
  22. Welcome to the boards christine. Sammie is a cutie such a sweet look on her face, I love her sweater. Andrea
  23. That is a lot to find out all at once. Sorry your going through it right now. An ultrasound is painless and very often verifys that nothing is amiss. It is better to know one way or another as much as it is may be scary. Hug a dog and take things one day at a time. Andrea D.
  24. Yes!!!!! wonderful news on the biopsy results. Be careful with having the dogs bring you stuff. I don't remember who it was who had thier dogs bring them a soda every morning. But when the sodas were gone he dumped a chocolate pie in bed with her. Any one else remember this? I bet Rob could be very creative, and you may not want to find out what he thinks you will need. Good luck, will keep you in my prayers for a swift and pain free recovery. Andrea D.
  25. Hey Cheri, I will keep you in my prayers! I know someone as active as you will be nuts with the enforced time out. But do take the time to rest it will make all the difference in the long run. I will put the seventh on my calandar and keep you in my prayers for sure on your biopsy outcome. Andrea D.
