  1. Thankyou so much for the websites, the one on sarcoptic mange was just great! Your right about the first 2 questions the answers are there. As for the third one in regards to the effect on seizures is another one that really can't be answered until we try it. My vet doesn't know for sure but none of us epi owners do either. We live with this everyday hoping and praying that we will make it one more day without the seizure. Thanks again for your help!
  2. I think they said it maybe could be Sarcoptic mange mite? I took her to the vet because she is itching so badly and she had tiny pink spots on her belly, they said it is possible she has mites but they are not sure. I have started to give her the Benadryl to see if it eases the itching before I give her the Revolution. I have 3 other dogs in my household 3 of the 4 are mine plus I have a foster dog all of these are Border collies, none are showing the symptoms of itching at all yet, the vet wants all of them on the Revolution just in case it is mites I did have a friend over with a foster dog that came over from the states and the vet is wondering if maybe that this foster had mites. I know that the dog has round worm, hookworm and giardia which I just found out this week so it is possible that the dog also has mites?? But the dog was in my house for about 30 minutes, although they weren't playing together, but in the same room. My dog is also epileptic so I am overly careful if I give her anything different, especially medication, but I would feel alot better if I knew revolution is safe for a Border before I give it to any of my dogs. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
  3. Can anyone tell me if they have used Revolution for possible mites? I'm a little scared to use it, if it is anyone related to intermectin? They are not even sure if my Border has mites they are only guessing and feel she should take Benadryl and Revolution just in case it is mites. Please if anyone has any experience with this drug let me know your thoughts??
  4. Mine loves to tipp over the water cooler trying to get the water jug to play wtih. She's a water jug junkie!!
  5. I have gone back and did a search on Thunderphobia and I think I will contact my vet, I too feel that this boy will hurt himself if something isn't done. Most times I have been at home with him and stayed with him until it ended. I now see that isn't the correct way either. Thanks for your help and hopefully I can help him before something happens.
  6. Does anyone have any suggestions for BC/Mix that goes into Panic attacks when thunderstorms come through? My foster just goes crazy when ever we have a thunderstorm, I'm talking so bad he tries to hide and climb through walls! If he's in his crate he tries to chew through the bars. I have had BC's all my life and I have never seen anything like this before. I know they can be sensitive to noises etc. I've just never had to deal with it before. Any suggestions would help, I know you can put them on med's but I was hoping there maybe a better solution.
  7. thanks for your imput everyone, I kind of thought Aussie and something? Not sure because as said earlier he doesn't have the moves like a BC, or the thinking eyes like a BC. Appreciate your help, if I find out what he is I'll let you know.
  8. I picked this guy up on Saturday the rescue feels he is purebred "BC", I'm not so sure? Wondering what we should post him as in petfinder? If you have a minute could you take a look and let me know what you think. http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displa...i?petid=9639336
  9. Karma will have a new home on Sunday! Fostering her was just great except for that feeling of losing her kinda hurts.
  10. My dogs would go crazy if they could not join the family, even my Foster baby is included with us at all times. I can understand why that poor baby is crying.
  11. She is a sweetheart very well behaved considering what's she's been through. I've never fostered before and I think it's great
  12. More pictures Does anyone know what this sweetheart is mixed with? Hopefully I did this right? I'm not very good at this. http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displa...i?petid=9366752
  13. I have 2 BC's and one Sheltie, things have been going good until a few weeks ago. My one BC (Kaycee) is 4 years old and gets along well with both the other dogs, she pretty much rules. My problem is my Sheltie(Allea) who is 8 years old has always been a little grumpy and she growls at the other 2 dogs if they get to close, in the past both my other dogs ignore her and carry on. But the last couple of weeks my BC pup (Sassie) who is 9 mths old has started to get quite agressive and attacks her if she growls or comes near me. I know some of this aggression is jealousy but I'm getting concerned one of them is going to get hurt. I do break it up and they are never left alone together but I'm sure my Sheltie would get hurt because Sassie is not playing she is out to hurt. Any suggestions would really help, because I don't know what to do. Like I said everything was okay until the last few weeks. Thanks
  14. Also I forgot to say you have some nice looking dogs Liz.

  16. I went into the bc picture gallery to see how to post pictures and I'll try to do it on the weekend when I have more time. But I did see a picture of a bc named Tucker and I got to say, mine could be a twin to that one. I put a call into the breeder but she hasn't called back yet, but I think that's most likely what she meant about being a cattle dog. On her farm she had the sheep and I think just down the street was the father whom I'm sure would have had some livestock also, but I'll check. As I said it wouldn't matter either way as I think she's wonderful anyway. But if I find out anymore I'll let you know.
  17. I never seen the father, but thinking back now I think the breeder said the father was a cattle dog, I was so involved in the pup I should have been paying more attention. I will try to post a picture tommorrow if I can figure out how to do it. Peny
  18. We bought a pup 4 months ago,we were told she was bc, I'm now thinking maybe she is crossed with a cattle dog, maybe not all border collie as we thought. We already have a four year old border collie, so we know what to expect and that's not a problem. I was just wondering if she is cross bred if this will make a difference with her personality traits etc?? She is very smart and always on the go, but very scared of strangers or other dogs when we are out with her. She doesn't even like it if someone comes to our house that she hasn't seen before and she will hide. But when it's just us and our other bc she is just fine, I wouldn't trade her for anything but I was just looking for some output on the subject of bc/cattle dog? We love her just the same.
  19. I would like to tell you that a BC is like a normal dog, but they are not. We have 2 BC's now one is 4 years old and one is 4 months old. I wouldn't trade these guys for anything else, but you need to be prepared for what's to come. Our 4 year old is the most loving and well behaved dog anyone could ever ask for, but this takes alot of commitment from us. You really need to spend alot of time with these guys not only physical and mental stimulation they need someone there for them. You will never regret a border collie if you have the time and patience and alot of understanding of their ways. But I'm not sure what kind of time you have to give you
