The photo says it all! Good one, Sue. The bagpipes were actually at the Strawberry Hill trials, which were held near the fairgrounds. The practice field for the pipers was next to the trial field. I think the pipers bothered Tom Lacy the most! He always had some choice mutterings. Sue, I'm afraid you missed THE Sam Furman birthday celebration. It was during the Montpelier trial and featured several entertaining performances, including Tommy Wilson, Tom Lacy, and a group of former Army paratroopers sitting at the next table. That's all I'm going to say in a public forum! :eek:

So what do they get? Motorcycle jumps? Bagpipes? :eek:

I think Julie is right. My vet says the painkillers allow them to sleep more deeply and achieve REM sleep. I told her that Rip was doing outruns in his sleep, and she said that meant he was getting REM sleep - a good thing.

Amen to that! I have two scars to prove it.

I do love my Hi-Lo! I have the smallest size (17') and pull it with a 6-cylinder minivan. On most trips, it doesn't affect my gas mileage AT ALL. If the trip is excessively windy or hilly, I'll lose a few miles per gallon. Because of its low profile while hauling, it's really easy to handle. I've been really happy with it. (Edited to get my its/it's straight!)

Dhu says "thank you very much." When I brought her home (she was 3 years old), she went straight to the bathtub in the guest bathroom. I figured she went there to feel safe, and I saw no harm in letting her sleep there. That's still her favorite place to sleep, but she'll pick a warmer spot on a cold night. Dhu has a collection of chewies and odds and ends, and she also eats in the tub. At night, I sometimes hear her rearranging her collection. One time, she took Jim's wallet and checkbook into the tub. They were lost for 5 days. :eek: She's a funny little dog!

A co-worker ordered the mega-package of Zero Odor and asked if I would buy part of it. Three of us shared the package, and all three of us love the stuff. I don't recommend it for hair spray, though. I tried that yesterday morning when I was mostly asleep!

Well, he's not *always* right. Many years ago, he told Tom Lacy to get rid of that big, ugly tri dog and get a dog he could do something with. That big, ugly dog was Rip. I'm teasing about Jack, though. I think you will get a lot from the clinic. Rip and Tom just surprised everyone!

Sarah, A dear friend (who died in his sleep at age 60 last fall), believed there is no coincidence - that everything happens for a reason. He felt this way because of his religious beliefs, but I think a lot of people feel this way, regardless of their religious beliefs. This is just too much to be coincidence! There are very few, if any, perfect breedings. And as Robin said, this one doesn't sound so bad. And you said the puppies checked out okay with the vet. That little girl is adorable. I think this is a good time to listen to your heart.

Aw, Robin beat me to it. At least, I think I know these breeders. Did you ask folks who have been doing this for a long time? When I started trialing, this couple was competing in almost every trial I went to. If I remember correctly, they had a working farm.

Hi. I'm hoping the same for my Rip. He turned 15 in October. His back has been deteriorating for several years. All things considered, he's getting around pretty well, though we have to boost his rear end when he gets up unless he's on carpet. For a while, he was on Deramaxx and Tramadol, and that combination seemed to work very well. Then I ran out of Deramaxx, and he got only Tramadol for about a week. I couldn't see any difference, so now he's just on Tramadol. It's cheap, seems to help, and doesn't have any side effects that we've noticed. My best to Sparky!

He is definitely awesome, Diane! I was starting to tell my fiance about your horrible experience, and stopped me and asked if I was talking about the fire in Washington. I was surprised that he already knew about it. In our local newspaper, he always reads the "Weird News," and your story was in the Weird News - because of the wonderful actions of Kodiak! All of you are in our hearts.
