  1. I'm training a puppy the come command, and she is doing very well with it except for one problem. When I call her to come, she comes, but as soon as she walks up to me immediately turns around and walks away. I thought to fix this I would do something exciting that she enjoys, so she would be expecting something when she comes. However, I don't want to give her a treat every time she comes. I tried that before, and then she only comes when she smells treats. She doesn't seem to care much about petting and verbal praise. Any ideas on what I could do when she comes to make her excited about coming and excpect something to happen when she comes?
  2. Thanks for the help. How exactly do I teach training methods?
  3. My 3 month old pup is not doing great in training. I have training sessions with her daily, but she doesn't see, to catch on. I make the training sessions fun, with treats and praise, but she ignores praise and greedily lunges for any treats. I never hit her or abuse her or force her into doing something, and she never had a former owner who did that either. I'm consistent in commands, i never change them, and I use hand signals too. She doesn't seem to be very focused when we are training. I'm trying to teach her sit, down, stand, and come. Sit is pretty good, but she doesn't usually obey immediately and half of the time she lays down when I tell her to sit. I know not to repeat commands, so I'm not sure what is wrong. She usually ignores the command down. She knows come very well, but she also knows that when she doesn't have a leash on, there is no way I can make her come. She also ignores the command stand. Any advice on what I could be doing wrong?
  4. Is it likely that she will grow out of it?
  5. Hi! My newest border collie puppy, Sadie, is almost 3 months old. I have had her since she was 8 weeks old. She is generally very sweet. However, she has a biting problem. She has these certain times during the day when she goes crazy. She gets so excited and wants to play and jump and bite and chew. Then, all the sudden its over and she's a sweet little angel again. She specifically wants to jump on small children when this is happening, which I understand why, but it is unacceptable. She also doesn't only play nip during these times, she bites quite viciously, cutting into the skin and drawing blood. Anyway, I know of several ways to discipline for this but I'm not sure which is best for border collies. Any suggestions?
