  1. The below ground electric fence idea has been scrapped. Neighbors down the road employ this technic and that's what caused me to consider it. They have two very small dogs and they are left out for extended periods. I'm thinking now of just fencing maybe a 1/3 of an acre for brief moments. This is a great resource. Thank you
  2. Thanks for the input. Off to the store.
  3. Your response is extremely appreciated. When I am home, issues like you represent do not exist. It's the other times that I am concerned about. For some reason I have been struggling with this issue as the weather gets warmer and the days longer here in New England. Cost is not my concern. She is our dog! I wish the best for her. I am leaning heavily towards a fence that all partiies will comprehend.
  4. Skye is mid drive Border Collie. We live in a rural area at the end of a dead end street., surrounded by state forest. Never lost a dog before but Skye is only a year old and in need of checking out her surroundings. Strongly thinking of an electric fence but have no prior knowledge of them. I'm thinking of laying out an acre perimeter. Thoughts

  9. I'll have to mention this cat to our daughter. Along with our Border Collie we have a Russian Blue, and they too play together.
  10. Those cats are very interesting?
  11. Beautiful puppy. These little herding dogs are athletic and smart. Best friends.
  12. When one speaks of rocks, where I live the ancient glaciers dropped these huge boulders all over the woods. Some are over 10 to 15 feet tall. When Skye was a puppy I'd bring her to a rock, not always a big one, and encoruage her to climb up. Well she was young at the time and a little hesitant. She is 9 months old now and we have a list of rocks that she can scamper up in a second. She knows these by name, bunny rock, flat rock, boulder, big rock, little rock, agility rock, its fasinating the knowledge these bundles of love can understand. We walk in the woods and all I have to say is a rock name and she runs right up. Always a treat is ready. Walks with Skye are always an adventure.
  13. I agree and I always bring treats for the puppy.
  14. Border Collies are special little friends. I was heart broken when we lost ours last year. Skye is 9 months now and has softened the loss. Enjoy your new journey.
  15. Our black and white Border Collie was never a concern. This red merle could be mistaken for something else I am afraid. I just ordered a vest like the one pictured in Sue's photo. Thanks for the input.
