  1. My dog, who is lying next to me, started grumbling when I played the video. Lol. Cute video. Seems legit.
  2. I hope that she is found! I am pretty far north of that but will keep an eye out.
  3. I read somewhere else on this board to keep balls and Frisbees as outside only toys. This has helped me SO much with my almost 9 month old BC'S energy level inside. I don't remember who posted it but I owe that person a beer or a cookie because now my dog has more reason to entertain himself when we are inside which is our "downtime." I also rotate his chew things in hopes that he won't lose interest too quickly. Good luck!
  4. I think that following a trail is an instinctual thing for many animals. I don't let my dog off the leash on trails because he currently going through a "I come when I want to come" phase. Not a fan. I am envious of those who have dogs that know their boundries and don't leap over them. My hope is to show mine the way.
  5. I second Root beer's team statement! I hold and my husband clips. That being said, I think being calm helps a lot. My vet seems to be the calmest person I have ever met and I have watched him clip Toby's nails with no resistants. It was amazing.
  6. My dog currently has fleece blankets in his crate. Found them on sale. We also have some of the mexican style blankets that we found at garage sales for cheap. They get rotated. At one point he had my old memory foam pillow but he started to rip it up which is the same thing that happened to the previous dog bed he had. No more fancy dog beds for Toby! He seems to enjoy his crate/bed and will put himself to sleep If we are awake past his usual bed time. I don't bother getting a dog bed for the outside of his crate because I believe he would rip it up and he likes to be near us on the couch or on the bed anyway.
  7. My dog will bring balls and frisbees to my cats in hopes of playing fetch. Even if they could, they aren't interested. He also REALLY likes to lay near them. I don't know if he is just obsessed with staring at them or if he genuinely wants to snuggle but they don't like that either. I also had to install a cat door into the basement to keep the cat box safe. The cats were really scared of the dog at first even though they were two times his size. I think it would have been easier to introduce them if the cats were younger. They are set in their ways. I doubt I'll ever see the cats snuggling up to Toby but in just a few months they have improved so much. They won't get out of the bed if he lays near them (just give him major stink eye) and they don't run away if he is in the room. He does like to run up on them but we don't let him. I'm hoping with consistent redirecting he will eventually get past it.
  8. Good luck and thank goodness those people surrendered her so she could find a safe home with you!! I had a rescue dog growing up and he too acted as though he must have been beaten. He lived for 15 years and even as an old man he would still get shy if a hand went too quickly towards him. He was the best dog I have ever had though.
