  1. So I'm trying to schedule a winter camping trip around December/January. The hike from the parking grounds to the campsite is about 2.5 miles long. Xena will be 6/7 months old around the time I'll be going on this trip. Do you think the 2.5 mile hike is a little excessive for her age range? Once we setup camp, I don't think we'd do anything more than a mile or so from campgrounds. Input is appreciated as well as experiences and of course, pictures if you have any!
  2. The only time I've ever really encountered coyotes was when I was out camping in New Hampshire. Oddly enough, my Shiba Inu who doesn't bark at a soul and is afraid of everything was defending my brother and I from a small pack of coyotes. I've never seen that dog look so ferocious before. The coyotes even went back up the mountain after the event. Now with Xena, I had an experience this morning where I believe she stumbled upon a possum in the yard. Not sure what it was since it was 4 am and I was half asleep, but she barked her head off at it and then ran behind me lol. I know that I'm more safe with my Shiba now haha. Both are females too.
  3. I wish that I saw this the other day. Now I feel like going back and returning the Merrick cans that I just bought today lol.
  4. I plan on posting very soon, just had to deal with the family for a little while (their electricity went out for the entire day). However, I greatly appreciate you reminding me about feeding 3x a day since I kind of forgot about it. I was basing all of this off of her general feeding and not just as a puppy. Thanks again though! I do plan on feeding some raw, but for the most part, it's going to be wet and dry unless we're out camping. Now I shall go post those pictures.
  5. So I was wondering how to go about this exactly. I have decided to go with Orijen dry puppy food and they lack a wet food line so I was wondering if it would be acceptable to go with Merrick's wet food possibly. Would it be acceptable to feed two different brands? Then my other question arises on how do I go about feeding the wet food. This is what I was thinking: 1) Morning wet food or every other morning; night dry food 2) Mix wet and dry in the morning or every other; night dry food I feel that wet food should be consumed in the morning because of the moisture content would help dehydration throughout the day (at least earlier). Or should I drop wet food entirely if she drinks sufficient amounts of water? Or EVEN go with Wellness Core wet food because I may be switching between Wellness Core and Orijen after every bag of dry food. These questions have been bothering me and I'm picking my puppy up in three more days so I'd like to get them straightened out. Thanks for reading haha.
