  1. Rufus seems fine now. Aside from not eating he wasn't displaying any other symptoms so I decided to wait a day and see if he would eat. He's eating everything in sight again and e seems to be "functioning" properly.
  2. Saturday morning Rufus was fine. We went tout, had a good long walk, he did his duty and then I left for a few hours to paint a cerebal palsy center (it was Denver's big volunteer day). When I came back everything was still fine. I took Rufus for a walk, etc. Afterwards I left with a neighbor to run some errands. No biggie. When I returned home, though, Rufus was acting weird. I would almost say he had a stomach ache but I couldn't confirm it. He didn't want to move, didn't want to stand, wouldn't follow me around the house. I had guests over and usually he's annoying to visitors (demanding attention) and even they said he seemed subdued. I fed him at his usual time but he only ate a couple of bites. Getting worried, I gave him some chicken treats he usually can't get enough of and he took it from me and then laid it down. He didn't eat it. I then ran to Wendy's and got him some chicken nuggets (I know, not good for him, but they're not good for us either:D ). Out of five he would only take one from me. The next day, Sunday, he seemed back to his old self. We went on a long walk, he seemed to do his duty. That is, he was off-leash and went away from the trail and I didn't follow. He was in the position, though. He was running around chasing squirrels and cats again acting goofy etc. He finished his food that he didn't the night before and I thought everything was okay. This morning he seemed okay as well. I took him for a run (I'm getting fat) and usually within the irst couple hundred yards he stops to poop. This morning we ran the 2.5 miles and nothing. When we got back I gave him a cookie (dog biscuit) and he wouldn't eat it. His behavior seems fine except normally he eats any and everything. He's drinking water, which is good. I then took hi for a long walk to see if he'd go to the bathroom and he did which I watched, but it wasn't much compared to normal Rufus-bombs. I'm wondering if something's wrong with his tummy. As far as I know he didn't get into anything out of the ordinary, so I'm confused. He hasn't been sick and aside from Saturday his behavior's been fairly normal so I haven't taken him to the vet, yet. (I'm not financially stable right now, so the vet's a last option for me). Any thoughts? I originally thought he'd eaten something bad and passed it, but now I'm not so sure. Thanks, Jason
  3. "had". Kincorra died last year.
  4. I notice the bill makes exemptions for vetrinary offices and people who wish to show their dogs, but in a state like Ohio where farming is still a large industry, it's amazing that the state legislature is trying to prevent people from having an adequate number of working dogs. I am very fond of creating a better life for dogs and imposing penalties on people who do not treat their canine's humanely, but they're nearly making it impossible to own more than one or two per household. Kennels and rescues will be out of business and out of luck. For a lot of parts I agree with this bill, but for many I disagree.
  5. Your avatar looks exactly like my Kincorra. I nearly skipped a heartbeat when I saw it!
  6. I've had a few people mention to me lately that girl dogs are smarter than boy dogs. Is there any substance to this theory?
  7. I like dog parks. Kincorra never really played with other dogs so there was never an issue unless someone wanted her frisbee or tried to prevent her from getting it. Then she'd turn into a uberb**. I knew Kincorra well enough that I could let other owners know long before that happened, "Hey, my dog doesn't like to be chased, so she may turn around and bite." That gave them a chance to call their dogs away. But there were times when Kincorra was the unprovoked aggressor and I'd have to pull her away, but she always came when I called and there was never an issue. Rufus, on the other hand, plays with everyone. He's not really rough, but he likes the smaller dogs and because of the size difference can be hard on smaller dogs. If I think it's too rough I'll call him away (like earlier tonight and a shitzu-something mix that wouldn't leave Rufus alone). Other than that, dogs play rough sometimes; just like children will wrestle. Sometimes everyone walks away happy and satisfied and sometimes there's a broken bone. Life is funny like that.
  8. J - First Initial First Name O - First Initial Middle Name NUN - First 3 Letters Last Name Sorry, it's not exciting. When the internet first became popular, back in the middle 90s, I was looking for an 'internet alias' and chose that one. I use it all over the place and as far as I know, I'm the only one. I also go by "Jason ON" on some message boards: Jason - First Name O - First Initial Middle Name N - First Initial Last Name Plus it works as a short form of 'Jason ONline'
  9. I had a woman argue with me once because she insisted Kincorra was a cattle dog and I insisted Kincorra was a border collie (having seen her mother and all, and having her birth certificate). Rufus, on the otherhand, gets mistaken as a border collie all the time. Heck, I mistook him for one, too. Every once in a while he acts like one, but it's rare to the point where I ask myself: did I just see that?
  10. I was on another (non dog related) forum and someone posted this: My reply to him was: That's just too funny!
  11. This is the first year I haven't attended due to the fact that I'm in Florida right now, and not Colorado. I might be back in time for the Highland Games in Estes Park, but I'm not sure.
