I'm so pleased to be a member of this group. While I do not have a Border collie at the moment, my husband and I lived for 12 years with a most wonderful guy--Rudy. He died a year ago this July 29 from a surprising cancer, an adrenal gland tumor, which was inoperable. We had only four days from diagnosis before we lost him, but that last day was great as Rudy did his favorite things, digging in his garden (his nickname was Rudy the Rototiller), getting as much "spray" as possible--any kind of spray--it didn't matter: he loved them all--playing a gentle game of Frisbee, and just being with his family. We adored his goofiness!
While we are on the lookout for a rescue BC, we have two other dogs, a 9-year-old mutty dog, I call her--Abby, who seems to be a cross with a multitude of breeds--and another goofy boy, a 4-year-old golden retriever, name Remy. They are both great dogs, Abby the best frog-bobber there could be (she's not especially happy right now with the drought, so not much fun bobbing for frogs) and Remy an amazing swimmer, if I do say so myself. He is my shadow.
I hope to help with rescue efforts. I am devoted to animal welfare, and being a semiretired person (I work occasionally as a substitute nurse in schools and I am a freelance copy editor/proofreader) I am afforded the possibility of assisting in transporting shelter dogs, should that become necessary.
I have been reading the boards and looked to this site (I believe it was this one but perhaps not) for information before finding Rudy.
Thanks so much for admitting me, and once I figure out how to put up pictures of my animals, I'll do that.
Ronny
