My nine-year-old border collie and I have had intermittent herding instruction and I’m looking for a teacher a reasonable distance from Chapel Hill North Carolina. We were recently in California, where we had weekly lessons for a few months and my dog showed a lot of promise. I’m not necessarily looking to compete; let’s just say we (my dog and I) both need to do this to be our best selves! My dog is super focused and highly motivated when it comes to being around sheep.
Does anyone have a reference? I’m looking for someone who does basically positive reinforcement, i.e., “correction” is ok, but can’t tolerate someone hitting my dog.
