  1. I am very excited but very nervous! Willow is going for her CGC and Theropy Dog test tonight. If she passes the CGC, she gets a Title! I cant wait to bring her to hospitals and senior centers, I have been wanting a dog that could do this for a long time, wish us luck!
  2. Tomorrow is sooo close now, lol. I will be driving with my Mom and Willow to PA to visit my family. It takes us about 5 1/2- 6 hours to get there. Any tips on traveling with a dog on such a long trip, also what would you bring with you? We will be in PA for 2 weeks so this is a nice long vacation. When I first got Willow she would get car sick after 45-60 minutes in a car, she hasnt lately but I'm not taking any chances and got Cerenia from the vet. I will also have water for her and we plan on stopping every 2 hours to let her stretch. I am so happy she will be coming with us, she is going to LOVE the open fields
  3. Wow, that sounds right up my ally . I LOVE doing agility with Willow and would love to do more with it. Sounds like this would be a good thing for me, I just hope they dont have events and things to far away from where I live
  4. Are the Agility clubs worth signing up for?
  5. Has anyone heard of ARFF? It's based out of Massachusetts. Someone at my agility class said it's something I may be interested in joining but of course im reading the sight and have no idea what it all is, lol.
  6. I purchase Willow a leather collar about 1 month ago and the metal on it has tarnished and the "leather" is very thin so im guess it wont last much longer. I want to get her another nice leather collar (preferably pink ), where do you recommend I look? I want to make sure I dont waist my money again and buy something that wont last! Thank you
  7. Hello All! So Willow was at K9 Kamp all weekend while I was away (3 days, 2 nights). It is a non kennel facility where she plays with all the dogs durring the day and then at night she was boarded at the owners house for the night with her own bed. When I picked her up yesterday they had given her a bath for me so I didnt pick up a stinky dog. The person who owns this place said she did fantastic and everyone loved her. When I brought her home I noticed that she keeps licking her paws (she never does this). So I checked them out and the inside of her paws are a little pink and irritated. Im wondering if it has to do with the rocks she was walking on all weekend or the soap they used to wash her. What do you recommend I use to put on the inner paws? Her pads look fine. Thank you!
  8. Im so sorry to hear about Whisper *HUGS*
  9. Wow, this just made me tear up. What a sad thing to happen , my thoughts and prayers go out to her and her beautiful dogs. I just donated, not much but I know every little bit helps.
  10. Welcome to the boards He has the face of a BC, Rocket is very cute! Isnt adopting a dog so rewarding? Congratulations
  11. Thank you everyone I just printed out a $10 off coupon for the Cerenia, I think im going to give this stuff a shot instead of chancing it and having her get sick.
  12. Willow is a BC mix and we are not sure what is is mixed with. Vet thinks BC, Corgi, Basset Hound and possibly Beagle. I will never know
  13. Hello again, lol. All these questions lately, sorry... I am taking Willow with me on my vacation to PA next month. Willow loves to ride in the car, she get so excited but once she is in the car she doesnt seem as excited anymore. I keep the window open for her which she loves to stick her nose out but If I drive for more then 45 minutes she usually throwing up. I do not want her to be misrable driving for 6 hours and was told that I can give her Dramamine but was never told how much or how often it should be given. Do any of you know the dosage for a 35lb dog and have you ever used it? Thanks again!!!
  14. yes, she has been tested for all of the above (actually it was about a month ago). She didnt cough all weekend until after our walk, I think it may have something to do with the collar and pulling on her neck . I will keep watching her but it doesnt seem like Kennel Cough. Thanks everyone!
  15. Not sure if she is given the CIV shot. all her shots were given by the shelter before I got her. She isnt due for any unitl August. I keep reading that if she does have kennel cough that most of the time if minor will go away on its own?
  16. LMAO, i know they dont get hairballs, just looks like she is trying to cough one up . Thank you for the Information Patty, will definantely be keeping an eye on her! She actually went for a trial day at a doggy day care Tuesday, could she have cought something that fast?
  17. Willow for a little while now has been doing this cough thing when she gets excited, sometimes it looks like she is trying to cough up a hairball but it doesnt last long. It does not happen everyday but last night she had done it a little more then usuall. She is up to date with all her vacines including the kennel cough one. When I called and talked to the vet she said to keep an eye on her but says it should pass. Could it have something to do with all the pollen or the hot humid air? She has never experienced this type of weather before. I hate it when the vet says to wait and see, I hate waiting... I want to know, lol.
  18. SOO CUTE!! Go luck with your new addition
  19. I visited the K9 camp yesterday. When I got there all the dogs were soooo calm, no barking no nothing. The owner was VERY nice, he showed me around and told me up front that even though there are people watching at all times that dogs could get hurt (like scrapes and cuts from playing). If there is ever a dog there that really hurts another they are banned from his facility. He also said the ground does hurt the dogs pads after a while because its cement and they run slide and scrape there pads. I am not sure how comfortable I am with this place. I think it is perfect for the larger dogs that are treated like “dogs” as he said but Willow to me is my kid, I Don’t think she would be safe here. He wants me to come Saturday with Willow for a test run to see how she does. I may just go because I will be there to see with my own eyes how she does. Saturday I also have an appointment with another kennel, they seem really nice as well. Why does this have to be sooo hard, lol!
  20. Karissa - I WISH there was a place like that around here, WOW! I definantly see why you pay the little extra, very nice. Thank you everyone, it's so hard to decide on what to do. I contacted another place http://k9kamp.net/index.htm . a co-worker of mine brings his dog there all the time and said it's a fabulous place. there is alway plenty of staff and they NEVER leave the dogs alone. and for over night stays he alows the dogs in his own house to sleep (of course with his supervision). Im going there today to check it out. I am also going to call my vet and see if they do over night stays, It's Banfield so I am not sure if staff is there 24/7. Now that I think about it, the first place i visited did not have an AC in the kennel. Willow has nice long thick fur, it would probably get to hot for her in there.
  21. When looking for a place to "kennel" your dog while your away, what do you look for? What types of questions should I be asking? I have visited one place so far and did not like it. They charge $31 for an over night stay and then another $31 if not picked up by 10am next day. They also do not have play time outside the kennel unless you pay extra which I do not understand. On Saturday I am going to look at this place http://www.weymouthdogshop.com/index.html. They want to give me a tour and then if im comfortable they would like Willow to stay for a day (free of charge) to make sure it is right for her. It's only $25 for an over night stay and they only keep them in the kennels to eat and sleep. the rest of the time they are playing outside which I love. I feel really bad kenneling Willow while im away but it seems to be my only option. Thanks everyone
  22. I was searching the web and came across this: "For dogs suffering from megacolon, exercise and regular activity are strongly encouraged for the health and strength of their digestive and abdominal muscles. A low-residue, high fiber diet may also help to prevent recurrences of megacolon. Another alternative is to supplement your dog’s regular maintenance diet with veterinarian approved fiber supplements or canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie filling). Avoid feeding any bones to your dog to protect against potential injuries to the colon when bones are swallowed, and to prevent clumps of partially digested bone from blocking the intestinal tract". Not sure if it helps or not. Good Luck with Brody! I'm sure you will find something that works
