  1. Possible, but we'd like to keep it the way it is for historical reasons. Thanks for the suggestion though!
  2. It doesn't seem to be possible in the current software. You can go to your profile and edit your member title, but that just shows up under your screen name. Sorry it's not more flexible.
  3. Well, we all appreciate your keeping us in the loop nonetheless. When it's all over, if you or someone else could post here and to Sheepdog-L to get the word out, that would be terrific. Thanks!
  4. Thanks for letting us know, Laura, but what do you mean by "resolution"? Do you mean that a vote is in progress? If so, wouldn't writing to the directors (who might not yet have voted) be helpful? Or do you mean that the vote has concluded? Thanks for the clarification.
  5. Out of curiosity, I googled the web site of the individual who apparently sparked the board's decision (she's the AKC herding judge who was nominated to judge the Finals). I think it shows instantly the striking difference in culture Check out the "brags" section of the site--I can easily picture an entry there bragging about being chosen to judge the Finals, permanently posted for all the world to see and draw conclusions about the synchronicity between AKC and the USBCHA. The thought makes me shudder.
  6. Thanks for reporting this. It turned out that there was an error in how I had the parameters set up--it should be working ok now. Let me know if you have any more problems.
  7. Hi, Folks: Sorry I'm late to this thread I did some research, and I confirmed that there is an incompatibility with our bulletin board software (and other bulletin board software) and IE 11. So if you can downgrade from IE 11 (which appears to be generally buggy) back to IE 10, that would be a good thing to do. If you can't, the quote function should work fine on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or just about anywhere else.
  8. Hi, Gary: Sorry for the delay in responding. Are you still having the problem? That sort of thing is normally a problem on your send, since your browser needs to accept cookies for the site to remember your password.
  9. Unfortunately, there WON'T be a web cast this year. There will be a DVD, however, so that's something. We'll hope to have the web cast back next year. Sorry, everyone!
  10. You're the only one who can see that--everyone sees his or her own warning points, but nobody can see each other's. Since we're not currently using warning points, it's irrelevant. I'll see if we can take it away entirely.
  11. Ok, more troubleshooting. I just opened a Chrome Incognito window, and I could edit fine. So it was something to do with a plug-in. Can you tell me what plug-ins you have installed?
  12. So I've been doing some more fiddling and testing, and it appears to me that the bug only effects the Mac version of Chrome. border_collie_crazy, do you have a Mac? (No.)
  13. You're right--works fine in Firefox, but not in Chrome. I'll go see how it is in IE now. Now I'm editing in IE. If this posts, it works there, too. test 3
  14. You're right--I can't either. I'll open a ticket with the software folks. Thanks for reporting it!
  15. In my long experience with bulletin boards, avatars sometimes don't make the journey over during a major upgrade. I'm seeing avatars with most of the posters, so I hope this is going to be a limited problem. But keep me posted on stuff, and I'll do my best to solve the problems. I like the look of this upgrade, and I think in general the user interface looks nicer. So that's good, at least!
  16. Thanks for the offer! Just send me a copy of the article, so we can see if it's appropriate for the site. I appreciate it!

  17. Guess I'd forgotten that he eventually was sold. He definitely was ticked--VERY ticked. But under all that ticking, he was a white dog. (That is, "white" and "ticked" aren't mutually exclusive categories.)
  18. Hi, Diane: I can't provide you with any photos of Tweed, but I can describe the dog for you, since I always thought he was cool-looking. He was actually a white dog and a tri (his head was quite brown), but he was so mottled that he appeared to be gray. He was a rough-coat, and his head was quite broad. Some people would probably think he was really ugly, but I always liked him. (Then again, as everyone knows I'm a little partial to white dogs!) He appeared to be a tough, powerful dog, hard to hang on to. I know that Ralph liked Tweed a lot, and he was much admired by other handlers. I'm not sure about his exact trial record, but the two of them certainly did well together. He was Ralph's nursery dog (I think I saw him for the first time in the 1999 Virginia finals), and I believe they worked together until Ralph died.
  19. Christine, from what my tech wrote, it appears to me that Norton itself has a cache (a cache in the software, not one on your browser). The files that it's flagging as being infected don't exist anymore in that location--if you click on the links, you'll just get a "not found" error. He suggested calling Norton and having them rescan the site and update their database. I'll try to do that, but since I'm not a Norton user I'm not sure how far I'll get with them. But I'll have a go at calling them tomorrow and report. For the record, I'm quite confident that the site is safe and virus-free, but I know that Norton users would feel a lot more comfortable if their software would stop screaming at them!
  20. The tech came to the same conclusion that I did--here's what he wrote to me this morning. I think we can consider this problem put to bed--please let me know if you have any further concerns about viruses. Thanks!
  21. Sue, I think your virus software must be still working off of a cache. If you click on any of those links, you'll see that those files don't exist anymore--they were the ones that were removed.
  22. Hi, Everyone: Thanks for your patience--the problem (we hope!) has been found and corrected. Here's what our web host had to say: >>There was a lot of encrypted php files on your site so I have removed those. The html files that was in the upload/thumb directory all have viral in them. Because there are so many files and they appeared to be randomly created I have moved them to a safe location on the server. I did some programming with .htaccess to prevent scripts from executing in your uploads directory and cleaned up a lot of php issues on your site. I am running another viral scan and we should be good to go. Could you have somebody with norton re-visit the site? So could you guys who have Norton (I don't) check it out and post what you find to this thread? That way I can respond to the tech. Thanks again!
  23. None of this is wildly clear to me. Nobody but Megan seems to be reporting problems on every page in the site--I certainly don't have that problem, and I've checked on multiple computers, each with different virus programs. I gather that there is a thread with a link to a potentially low-risk infected site. I'm happy to take the thread down if someone could tell me *specifically* which thread contains the suspicious link. If not, we'll leave things alone. Thanks!
  24. Sorry I'm so late responding to this post--I don't read the Boards as regularly as I should. I'm in charge of all of the Internet communications for the 2010 Finals. Steaming video is way beyond our budget, so we won't be doing that. I plan to do the following from the Finals: * I'll be writing a live blog that will be updated several times each day. * I'll be sending out some video and audio (interviews with handlers) podcasts that will also be posted to the blog. If you have an Ipod, you'll be able to subscribe to the podcasts and view them there. If not, you can view them on the blog itself. * I'll be using Twitter to send out real time tweets for every score. You'll need a Twitter account to take advantage of this, but it will have the benefit of updating people both at the finals (who can get the tweets on their cell phones even if they're away from the field) and those who aren't at the finals. * As usual, Francis Raley will do her typically stellar job of updating the scores on the USBCHA site. I hope that will suffice. I know that streaming video would be cool, but it's just not possible for us right now. Maybe someday!
  25. If somebody could tell me where the thread is that has the post that's pointing to a virus, I'll delete it. Thanks!
